The AP reported earlier this month that Gov. Bobby Jindal’s (R-LA) administration is planning to request $300 million dollars from the federal government to develop a high-speed rail between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Much of the money ... comes from the Recovery Act, a stimulus measure Jindal not only opposed, but recently called a failure.

In opposing the Recovery Act, Jindal offered the Republican party’s official response to President Obama’s nationwide address last February. Jindal specifically smeared high-speed rail projects as “wasteful spending”.

Jindal is trying to have it both ways on the Recovery Act. Though he slams it as a “stimulus that has not stimulated,” Jindal recently went on a 64-parish tour handing out jumbo-sized ceremonial checks filled largely with Recovery Act funds. Rather than acknowledging the source of the money, Jindal printed his own name on the checks.

Though Jindal has been rapidly spending stimulus money for infrastructure projects around the state, his administration has refused to put up signs disclosing each project has been funded by Recovery Act.

He said "hasn't stimulated". It's true. Less than 10 percent of the stimulus money has been

spent, so there has been very little impact in Louisiana as they continue to have double digit

unemployment.

It is the lack of sticking to your guns that is being commented on...if you speak out in opposition of something, then don't do that which you're opposing. It is quite simple....and the fact that he's refusing to admit where the funds he's doing out come from shows a 'guilty' conscience....IMO.

Remember you're referring to a politician and Washington is wildly spending money so the party is on the taxpayers. Plenty of people thought he was a sucker for not taking the money and running like everyone else.

300 million dollars is cheap for a high speed rail....whereas it takes 1.4 billion dollars just to link Fall River MA to Boston MA, which is about 50 miles or so

High speed rail from BTR to NO, i hope they actually do it... i don't know about double-digit unemployment here, but they are doing a lot of construction everywhere as it is, which is a good thing.

on another note, i saw Bobby Jindal's house the other day... i'll take a picture of it next time i'm in the neighborhood.

That's because land in the MA is considerably more valuable than that in LA seeing that the latter is mainly swampland.
