Here is a link to an old thread i searched for. In it she breaks down the whole medical experience. She explains that the guard keeps asking for the "Appointment Letter".

OK!!! Once and for all!....CAN MY FIANCEE TAKE THE MEDICAL EXAM WITH A SCANNED COPY OF NOA2, AND THE NVC LETTER WITH MNL NUMBER???!!

She is from Cebu. She wants to get the medical over with. I don't want her to get there and have some guard turn her away cause she doesn't have the "appointment letter".

Please, if a few people can testify that they did the medical WITHOUT the "appointment letter"....then i can leave yall alone about it. :wacko:

heres the link i talked about...

Thanks.

After re-reading the above thread in the link, along with my fiancee who can help me to understand the intended meaning of what the girl is actually saying, i am going to let my fiancee fly to do the medical with the NOA2 and NVC letter.

A lot of what i read here is very subjective due to the English language being second to the filipinas here.

hi! allow me to answer your question. dunno which is packet 3 or packet 4 anymore. anyway, the appointment letter the guard at st. luke's is looking for has the following info:

- has the letterhead from the us embassy in manila and of course dated;

- addressed to the K1 beneficiary;

- 1st paragraph: notice that the embassy is ready to begin final processing of the case blah blah;

- 2nd paragraph: enclosed forms that your fiancee will need to fill-up prior to the appointed medical exam and interview;

- at the left bottom part of the letter is the dates for interview (including time) and medical exam, case number, and name of beneficiary;

without this letter, your fiancee will not be allowed to enter the clinic. she will also need to bring this same letter on her appointed date for interview at the us embassy. she should receive the letter by post (which i did) or downloaded from the website of the us embassy (am not too sure about this).

The NOA2 and NVC letter might not be enough. It's foolish to take chances without the interview appointment letter or email. They asked for mine at St. Luke's.

Let her bring the printed interview schedule sent by USEM through an email after you get a sched of her interview appointment.

They send her an email when you call them up. I literally just did it. The girl said just to print it out and take it to St. Lukes. Then to the interview.

That's what I was going to say, My Abby still has not received anything from USEM (snail mail). She did get the email confirming the interview which she used to get into the medical.

Haha, wow. Once again it seems there are 2 different versions. Some say NVC letter and NOA2, others say to bring the embassy the email print-out. I guess i'm back to that plan since there seems to be no consistency to their methods over there at USEM/St. Lukes, and i don't want her to be turned away for lack of the "letter".

CORRECTION: There is NO CEBU hospital that caters medical for US immigrants.. St. Luke's Clinic in Manila is the only accredited medical institution that does medical for US immigrants and non-immigrants.

When I had my medical, I met a friend who is having her medical done with no INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT LETTER, she only showed her NVC letter and NOA2 copy. She was allowed by the guard to get inside but when she submitted her papers at the lobby for picture taking, the lady was looking for her appointment letter. She was advised that her medical will only be valid for 3 months since she has no interview date yet. And if after by 3 months she don't have her interview yet, the medical will expire and she needs to re-do the whole medical. She still took the risk and had her medical that day. 6 months later, she got her interview date. Luckily, her medical was still valid. Seems like that lady from St. Luke's tried to scare her to not push through the medical because she doesn't have the interview date yet.
