I really want to know the outcome on this. I'm not ready to pay 130 dollars a shot and I'm against the shot itself.

I hope they changed the rules about the vaccine.

yes me too... but here is another big deal...

they are gonna make a new Vaccine

the one for H1N1

And hopefully they wont force us to take it too...cause if i was against gardasil

i sure am against a vaccine that would have been test only less than a year...

the aluminum pile up dangerously in the list of all vaccine we must take... *sigh*

I thought H1N1 was going to be voluntary just like the normal flu shot here in Canada.

Cause I'm not getting it unless they pay me for it. Not enough long term info on it.

I'd imagine H1N1 would be free like the regular flu shot, since they want to get it out there with the flu shot.

Eh, there's too much hype over H1N1. It's just another strain of the flu.

I've never heard anyone I know or anyone they know even know anyone they know with it. If that makes sense :lol:

here is another link from the CDC

http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/laws_regs/fed...e_factsheet.htm

on the CDC link it says this at the bottom of the page "Page Last Modified: May 26, 2009" and gardasil is not listed there? but it is a "proposed" list.

Has anyone called CDC or contacted the american side to see what they say, if its required or not anymore? theres not really enough uptodate information!

The page is 404'ing for me, even through google.

What did it say?

Another website says it's still required, but I'd rather read the government website... if their pages EVER worked :lol:

yea its doing that to me too... the page is for legal permanent resident application im supposing aka AOS? and it requires gardasil and is dated 2009.

I think this thread has been started to early, there are articles starting in 2008 questioning using gardasil for immigration requirements and nothing has been done to change it, there has been quite a few storys and reports and still nothing, not just with immigration storys but people having issues with seizures after the second dose. Yet nothing has changed even after people dying from it.

Need more recent proof which im able to find nothing of save for the one story about the girl being denyed citizenship. There is nothing to say that gardasil wont be required as of yet.

Do you guys know what happened with this? I was told, but this could be very wrong, that Gardasil is not good for people (such as myself) who are at high risk of "women type cancer" (ovarian, cervical and so on).

I am from Qc, Canada and just got my shot record. All it says (it's in French) is that I got multiple shots of Sabin and something else... it's an abbreviation of a couple letters (don't have it at this moment).

I am REALLY not wanting to pay 4-500 for shots. I can understand why they would require them for countries that are far away, but Canada is right next door. I don't think we Canucks are harboring the next black plague. :blush:

Hi,

There are many threads on this topic at VJ. As far as I know nothing has come of the above yet.

If you are within the age group and you wish to immigrate to the U.S. and you are female, you are going to have to have the shot, unless you can get a waiver.

Also, you will need to have your vaccination records translated before you go to your medical. Here is a list of vaccinations required - if you do not have all of them you will need to get a titer test to prove immunity or go to your local doctor and get the vaccinations done. You can have them done by the panel physician, however you will pay out of pocket for that.

Whether you are from Canada or timbuktu - it's really irrelevant when it comes to vaccinations, so i'm not sure why you would come to that conclusion. Canadian's have to follow the same guidelines as everyone else immigrating.

Currently, immigration law requires that immigrants have proof of vaccination against―

* Mumps

* Measles

* Rubella

* Polio

* Tetanus and diphtheria

* Pertussis

* Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib)

* Hepatitis B

* Any other vaccinations recommended by CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices

Unfortunately, that right there is the kicker. As of right now, Gardasil is on the recommendations list for our age group by CDC's ACIP.

However, for anyone wondering (as I myself am paying close attention to the outcome), there has been a rumour running about that CDC is going to be publishing a new set of criteria soon that leads to vaccinations finding a spot on that list. Whether or not that'll lead to good news... hard to say. Interesting to watch for, at least.

Mentioned most recently on ABC News: Roadblock to U.S. Citizenship for Immigrants.

The CDC is expected to publish new criteria to determine which vaccines should be recommended for U.S. immigrants in about a month, according to spokeswoman Christine Pearson.

I know the thread is a couple of days old, but I figured I'd add the information for those interested, at least.
