How to apply for SSN without I-94?

I wanted to go tomorrow to apply for the SSN and reading the forum I discovered that I need a I-94 but I have no such I-94. Nobody told me in the plane coming here or at the customs that I had to fill in such a form. How can I apply for the SSN now? Only with the stamp in my passport ? What am I suppose to do? I cannot wait until after applying for the EAD to finally apply for the SSN, I want to get my driving license - this is my major concern now when the only way I can explore my adoptive country is by riding my bike.

Please, I need your advice.

Go back to the airport?

Do a Infopass?

Call the service number.

There has to be an I-94 (or was supposed to be) - what stamp did you receive in your passport?

I see that I-94 is the white form you have to fill in before landing. The flight attendant didn't give me this form(even if I explained to her what type of visa I had) and I had no I idea I needed it. The customs officer hardly knew what to write in his computer for K1 so he didn't notice that I had no I-94.

What I have in my passport is a stamp showing the entrance date and the date when my K1 expires.

most likely you wouldn't get a DL anyway as your authorized stay as would be indicated on the I-94 is less than the minimum required by most states

YMMV

You will need to call your local DEFERRED INSPECTION office of Customs and Border Patrol (they are generally associated with airports). If you can go to the one where you made your POE, that would be best, but it's not necessary. CBP made the mistake by letting you into the country without an I-94. Make sure you are clear when you call that you were NEVER ISSUED an I-94, not that you need a REPLACEMENT I-94-- that's a different matter entirely.

This PDF will tell you which deferred inspection site is closest to you.

You need to get started filing for your EAD and AOS. The receipt you receive from that application will, in some states, qualify you for a DL. The EAD will qualify you for the SSN. Having an SSN will not qualify you for the DL anywhere. States must all obtain proof that you are here legally, e.g., the receipt showing you are applying for your green card etc.

OP is in a catch 22... For AOS you need the I-94 as well

Start off by calling the USCIS "Misinformation" service number. Follow the prompts for address change and you'll get a warm body.

Ask for a Immigration officer.

You need the I-94 to adjust status also.

Not sure which POE you went through but I found O'Hare's DHS/CBP person for visitor questions to be very knowledgable and quick to reply.

Call 773-894-2900 - most likely you will first get a voicemail (4-5 minutes in duration giving you different options which agency to call) - leave a voicemail with your number and this officer (Patrick Selgado) will call you back. He is very helpful.

Thanks a lot for all the info, we phoned our local DEFERRED INSPECTION office of CBP, got on the phone an officer who knows his job and we fixed an appointment with him tomorrow to check if there is an I-94 issued in the system for me. If not (which is the case) I'll get one on the stop. Problem solved :)

I have the same problem. I called the CBP at San Francisco Airport several times and all they told me was to call USCIS. Because of that I was mislead and spent 4 months trying to resolve this through USCIS... I am still suffering as I gave up on AOS here because I lacked this form and went to the CR1 interview overseas. They did not give her the visa and put her on AP for God knows how long. Don't these people receive any kind of training, education? I tell them what I need even and they still don't get it or listen. Deaf dumb and blind. Thanks for letting me vent. :)

SSN without I94 (K1 Visa)

After a visit to the local Social Security office here in Minneapolis, the officer and supervisor reassured me that she is able to have an SSN without her I-94, as long as we bring a certified marriage certificate. Without being married (and on a K1 visa) she needs the I94 for the system to accept her. *THEY SAID IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER HER NAME IS DIFFERENT ON THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE, THEY ARE ABLE TO PROCESS IT*
