So....we went for our interview this morning (7/15/09). Our interview time was slated for 7:40am, and we arrived at about 7:25am. The building doors opened at 7:30am, so we walked in and went through the metal detectors and security screeners. We handed them our appointment letter, and they took it away. We were asked to sit in the lobby till our name was called, so we did. There was just one other couple there at the time. They were called after just 5 minutes of waiting, and we were called shortly after. I'd say we sat there for about 7 minutes or so.

Our interviewer (IO) was a well mannered guy...probably in his mid thirties. He introduced himself and asked us to stand up and swear to tell the truth, etc etc etc. He began his questioning by going through all the info on the I-130 and I-485 to see if everything was current. Everything was fine, so we moved past that quickly. He then asked for ID's and passports, marriage certificates, birth certificates, photos, and anything else we brought. He glanced through them promptly and stamped the copies he already had.

He then asked, "So how did you guys meet?". My wife asked me to do the talking, so I described in detail how we met, dated, got engaged, and got married. Afterward, he began to ask a series of questions regarding any possible criminal records, arrest records, terrorist activity, etc etc to which I answered in the negative. At this point, he handed us all our documents and began to explain the process from here on out.

He said, "So, here's the status of this case. It seems approvable, but I won't know for sure till probably the end of the day, or the end of the week. I'll enter all your info into our system, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, you should get a "Welcome letter" in about 2 weeks. If there are any issues, I'll contact you by phone or by mail to resolve it. If you don't hear anything after 30 days, call the INFOPASS number". He then asked me for my newly obtained EAD card, and he made a copy. He took the original and gave me the copy. Finally, he explained the 2-year conditional LPR and how to renew it. When he was done, we thanked him and left.

All in all, it went well. I just wish he could have said "Approved" or "Not-Approved", instead of the very very vague "It seems approvable". Hrmph!^&*#

The fact that he took your EAD means he expects it will be approved - you don't need the EAD when you have a green card. Congratulations!

Well, congratulations!!! You`re approved! Don`t worry. Although I know you won`t stop worrying until you get the actual green card. But you`re fine! Just keep checking your case`s status. We were approved on Monday and got an email from CRIS saying Card Production Ordered.
