Border Patrol agents thwart 3 smuggling attempts in 36 hours

SAN DIEGO — Border Patrol agents detained dozens of suspected illegal immigrants from three failed smuggling attempts during a 36-hour span this week, officials said.

The first occurred about 8 p.m. Tuesday when agents stopped a Ford Explorer near Campo. Agents said the vehicle appeared to have a large amount of weight inside, and they found 12 people stacked on top of each other in the back of the SUV.

Ten were Mexican nationals; one was from Honduras and another was from Guatemala.

The suspected smugglers, an 18-year-old female driver and a 19-year-old man who was her passenger, are both U.S. citizens. They were arrested and face smuggling charges, agents said.

About 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, agents stopped a group of 22 suspected illegal immigrants hiding in rocky terrain in Shelter Valley, about 13 miles east of Julian.

The group, which had been traveling on foot, was waiting to be picked up by a driver, agents said. Among those detained was the guide, who faces smuggling charges, officials said.

Early Thursday morning, agents arrested 10 people, all Mexican nationals who had been on a boat and dropped at Torrey Pines State Beach. Shortly afterward, agents with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Marine Unit intercepted the panga boat off the coast and arrested two suspected smugglers.

Which shows the propaganda that the economy is stemming the flow is a bunch of bull #######. Illegal immigration is alive and kicking. Yes, while Americans have to live in tents and watch their lives be zeroed out.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

They jump the queue then have kids expecting people to feel sorry for them once they are deported while their kids stay here.

why should they have the right to circumvent the system for their own advantage? Don't the poor in other nations (including America) deserve the same right to prosperity?

On a personal level I have neither sympathy or Contempt for the border crossers.

I understand why most come and I also understand why we must do what is necessary to stop them and run them back out of the country.

Around here, which about 40% Hispanic, some are leaving because there are less construction and poultry plant jobs now and a new detention facility for illegal immgrants busted on additional criminal charges. The word's out and they have go back south of the border or to states that don't enforce immigration laws.

I Kinda wonder if the 14th Amendment which was in part to settle the question about Black citizenship has been interpreted beyond it's intent or reason.

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

Why was this one clause added if the modern interpretation would have been perfect without it?

Are Citizens of other countries who trespass our boarders "Subject to the Jurisdiction thereoff"?

Does anyone really think this Amendment adopted after the Civil War in 1868 was intended to include foreigners ransacking our boarders?

I propose we amend this Amendment.....

I understand why they come but I do not like it.Many of them are making out like bandits while Americans get poorer by the minute.The good news is,due to the bad economy,many of them have left RI ! :thumbs:

The interview went well,they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit,nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !


June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again,still no decision on his case!
June 22,2010-WAIVER APPROVED at 5:00pm
July 19,2010-VISA IN MANUELITO'S HAND at 3:15pm!
July 25,2010-Manuelito arrives at 9:35pm at Logan Intn'l Airport,Boston,MA
August 5,2010-FINALLY MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 23,2010-Filed for AOS at the International Institute of RI $1400!
December 23,2010-Work authorization received.
January 12,2011-RFE
