Plot synopsis:

Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is the executive editor-in-chief of a book publishing company, Colden Books, who forces her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to avoid being deported to Canada. He grudgingly accepts in order to get the position of editor within the company. When the government investigates, the two are forced to spend the weekend with his parents in Alaska in order to sell the lie, but start to fall genuinely in love as they spend time together.

I saw Sandra Bullock promoting this on the Today Show this morning. Nothing like making fun of immigration to make me laugh!

Well, two other movies with the immigration theme are Kolya and Green Card.

It doesn't bother me. Especially considering the number of people who do NOT understand the immigration process. Heck, I didn't understand it until it became a part of my life.

I presume in the end she marries for love not immigration - that's how Hollywood works, right?

Crossing Over is another new one. Haven't seen the whole thing yet.

in the first season of Prison Break an eastern european girl brings a credit card to the protagonist, who is in jail. she is admitted for a conjugal as his wife. it is later revealed that she married him for a green card the day before he robs a bank with the intent of going to jail. the delivery is her part of the deal. the issue of the green card process is not elaborated upon. it is made as to appear to be a simple transaction.

I agree...the witty/funny roles are OK for her, but she should not do drama, like Murder by Numbers and Premonition.

I think a lot of people will go ####### about that movie, from not understanding that canadians do need work visas to live in US, or a GC.

The formula to marry for the GC is old and has been used in many movies and TV shows.
