getting ready to file

Hi All,

We are putting together our I-751 packet now, and can officially file May 1st! Getting excited here, and of course a bit anxious to once again be put at the mercy of USCIS. So far, so good though as far as our treatment by USCIS through the K-1 and AOS phases of the process, hoping for smooth sailing through this phase too!

Any advice? Tips? Things to know before filing? Any and all input would be much appreciated.

Not sure if a May 2009 filer topic has been started, if not here we go kids!

Make sure you will be sending the current I-751 forms from the USCIS website and don't forget to sign it and send the correct fees.Good luck!

Curious, opinions seem divided on adding two sworn affidavits along with the packet. I am inclined to not include them as I believe our evidence is pretty strong as is. Did you?

My wife and I should have the packet ready to go today since I have the day off, we have to wait until May 1st though to mail it off.

We submitted a lot of strong, primary evidence but also included a couple of affidavits. The affidavits probably won't have a big impact but we figured it wouldn't hurt to send them.

I encourage you to join the CSC list after you submitted your I-751, it covers all months and years so you can see the trend, if there's such a thing Good luck!

Did you receive a reminder letter from USCIS? A lot of people seem to be getting them these days but we didn't.

We did get the reminder letter, including it as attachment to our I-751. Minor supporting evidence anyway!

I'm starting to wonder why we didn't get a reminder... We moved but updated our address with USCIS. We included the USPS receipts for both the AR-11 and I-865 with our application.

Silke, we haven't moved at any point since filing the original K-1, not entirely out of fear of how badly such things seem to throw USCIS, but sort of lucky on that point ourselves. Perhaps that helped us get the reminder letter? They should get your address right now though, off the removing conditions packet you sent in.

We also moved, updated our address, and did not receive a reminder letter. Someone reminded me that just because you submit the AR-11, it doesn't necessarily update your address all over USCIS. So, we're guessing they sent a reminder to our old address, but since we moved more than a year ago, the post office didn't forward it. Oh well.

We also moved twice in the past two years, changed the address with USCIS and the reminder was sent to our original address. landlord forwarded it as he thought it looked important.

Please read the following thread. It willl hopefully answer all your questions as can also be used as checklist to make sure

you got all the required docs.

I would suggest adding the affidavits as USCIS mentions them in I-751 instructions, a lot of folks would suggest not to include it. My theory is more ammo the better it is for your case.
