Hi VJers,

I have posted this question before but did not get enough information, so I'm posting it again.

I have just completed my ROC process and now starting to get ready for N-400.

What supporting documentation will I need to submit with my application? (Based on marriage to a UCS, 3 year requirement)

This is a (partial) list from uscis.gov

Documents referring to you and your spouse:

Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children, or

Internal Revenue Service (IRS) - certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past three years, or

An IRS tax return transcript for the last three years.

But I have seen posts here that people submit ALL of the above and even more. If someone can guide me through this I would greatly appreciate!

Thank you

I submitted proof that my husband has been a U.S. citizen for at least three years (copy of his birth certificate), copy of our marriage certificate, copies of our children's birth certificates, joint tax returns, joint bank account statements, vehicle titles and our lease with both names on it. For the interview I took any evidence I could think of.

I personally, not everyone has to follow, would submit everything in copies that I can imagine the IO at the interview might ask for. I like to cover all bases, let the IO look at my file before he/she even start to interview me. It's the last few steps of the journey, don't want to fall at that stage. I'm bringing all the originals to the interview in case he/she wants to see them. I would arrange my package like this: things that they've specifically asked for on top, everything else on the bottom. Let the IO decide what means relevant and what's not on their own. Again, it's just me, not everyone has to do it, I just like to be thorough and getting tired of dealing with government agency, doesn't matter if it's 3/4/5 letters.

Well, I guess that's up to the indiviual case and how much proof you have. We have been married for 15 years and I have been a LPR for 10, so I could have sent in LOTS more evidence. But I just sent in these items plus military orders with all our names on them (we were stationed overseas for several years, so I needed proof for that). I wanted to make sure that my application itself was not too much because looking at each single item might have caused delays. Who knows, an officer might get a folder in his hand that is 1/2 inch thick and one that is 4 inches thick and might just work on the smaller ones because it's faster and easier and he'll get more done in a day.

But, for the interview, definitely take ANYTHING you can think of. I had a big, big bag plus a thick folder with documents with me (I never could have mailed all that) and it was a good feeling to have anything that might be asked for handy. Of course I didn't need any of it, just my passport, greencard and driver's license.

hmm...... good point, I haven't think of that. Well... I'm applying based on 3 year marriage rule, so mine would be less than yours. Well... I guess that depends on each of our own. Again, we are all just sharing experience and advice, we are not lawyers, so what one does is up to his/her own decision. :star:

We sent copies of my birth certificate, my passport identification and signature pages, our marriage certificate, our son's birth certificate, and our tax returns for the past three years.

I'm sure the interview notice will ask us to bring more evidence to the interview, and we'll be happy to do so.
