Hi, I am just new here and just want to ask something, almost a year now that my husband and I got divorced and it is finalized so since my greencard is temporary I try to remove the condition on my greencard through petitioning myself and about january 21, 2009 the immigration approved my petition and they said that they are extending my greencard for another more year since my temporary greencard is getting expired this coming june this year, and since from January when they extend my greencard for another year until now I still did not received anything from the immigration about the schedule for my biometrics and finger prints and everyday it scared me why not yet, do you think it is a good idea to contact the immigration about my status for biometrics and fingerprints.

And am I allowed to travel overseas? what should I bring with me? if I do since my temporary greencard is gonna expired this june but I have a letter from the immigration that they extend it for another more year.

Thanks a lot hope anybody can help me, god bless to all...

I think the OP may be a bit confused. The one year extension letter is not an approval of the petition. It is just a receipt notice that automatically extends the conditional card by a year to allow time to decide the case. That said, since it's been a couple months without getting a biometrics letter, it might be worth contacting USCIS and asking about.

It seems to me that a case like the OP's might take longer to process because she applied for a waiver of filing the joint petition.

I agree with jsnearline's response. If it's been more than 60 days the OP hasn't get the biometrics letter yet, she (assuming from the name "Mrs_King") should either call the 1800 number or make an infopass. May be it's another one of those "lost in mail". I'm in charge of getting mails for my company, there were several times our vendors' invoices didn't get to us for 3 weeks (from the stamp date till they got in our mail box), mind you it's for the same city same state, only 15 minutes driving distance. Why am I not surprise about USPS?!

"Feels like the squeeky wheels are the first to get grease." It's an analogy, don't worry, I know lots of us here are scratching head, I didn't understand it either the first time I heard it. Meaning people who complain will get faster service. Well... I should add: properly and appropriately complain will get positive result, improper and unappropriate complain will only get things worse, so refrain from using foul languages and unstable emotions, stay calm, polite and patient when stressing facts, don't exaggerate. Hope everyone get their situation resolved smooth and soon! :star:

You are not the only one. I myself also did not received the biometric appt letter. Call this moring to USCIS and the agent told me that she would have one sent to me in 45 days. Yeap, it has been 2 months since I last received NOA1.

Good luck to us!

Bottomline is if you don't get a biometrics appointment letter within 30 days of the extension letter call and do a Service request for one.

If you don't get the appintment letter within 45 days call your senator.

Worked for me!

Senators can make waves and get things moving.
