You only need this if you are using assets to show your level of support.

If you read the I-134, it tells you what is required on this letter, under supporting evidence, section A.

If your current income (job) is sufficient, do the section B evidence.

You should also get your tax transcripts from the IRS and submit them, as evidence of income.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

The consulates tend to treat the I-134 like a mini-I-864 as so prefer the same financial evidence as the I-864.

In our case this what the I-134 included.

  • I-134.

  • SIMPLE Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years, (Redundant for the (1040,W2,1099) but are free from the IRS http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq/0,,id=199557,00.html

  • Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for past 3 years (Not necessary if you provide the transcripts)

  • Letter from my employer stating annual salary, job responsibility, and that is full time, on company letterhead.

  • Photo copies of past month or so of pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.
My income was well above the povertyline so I did not include any asset data (LIKE BANK STATEMENTS or property values).

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

If you need a letter from your bank, I suggest that you write the letter, allow a bank officer to review edit and sign. When I went into my bank even though I had a prepared letter and said "immigration visa for my fiancee" the lady still thought I was talking about a visa credit card for 5 minutes. So don't expect the bank to write the letter for you. Log on to your account online, add up your deposits over the last year, it will much longer if you expect the person at the bank to do it for you and you may get charged an account research fee. My letter was short: I referenced my fiancees name, visa type that was applied for. The letter might have been 2-3 sentences something like: "Miss. __ has maintained her account with XYZ bank in good status since it was opened on DATE. In the last year, a total of $ was deposited into this account. "

I hear folks say you need letter from the bank to add to your I-134. what do I tell the bank to write in this letter? What will this letter say?

Bank letter is optional. If your income is verifiable and sufficient, don't worry about it. Bank letters are good for self employed people also as a check and balance of stated income. Even a tax transcript only says how much you "claimed" and paid tax on, it is really not "proof of income" Deposits to a persoanl bank account that are in the same neighborhood would be a good incdication you made at least as much as you stated to the IRS.

Example, if I made $2,000 under the guidelines for last year, I could fill out a schedule C, claim some self employed income from my lemonade stand and pay tax on it. VOILA!!!!!!! I have made over the guidelines...just look at my tax return! A bank letter just helps to verify everything in such a case.
