Got a question for you - have been searching on VJ for info on round trip tickets. Found this topic, information mostly about round trip being cheaper than one way.

Here's my question: My flight is booked with Delta, April 9-19. Fiance's interview April 13. One way ticket April 19 from Guatemala to Richmond, VA, almost $800. Same flight as me, $373. Can I book him the same flight as me and only use the second leg of the flight? AKA, will they cancel his GUA-RIC flight when he doesn't fly with me RIC-GUA on the 9th? Just looking for some info here as Delta customer service (all 3 numbers!) is busy!

02.01.17 - put in line for interview

03.15.17 - scheduled for an interview on 04.21.17, had to write a letter asking for a reschedule because we will be out of the country

03.31.17 - scheduled for an interview again

Yea :( Just got off the phone with Delta (after waiting a while!) and they said if the first flight isn't taken then the 2nd flight gets cancelled.

On a different note, Delta does allow you to use the first leg and save the second leg to use within a year - may be an idea for visiting down the road!!! If we can find a cheap ticket to come back!

They allow it but there may be a fee involved. Check if there are any fees for rebooking flight segments. Some airlines change per segment and it can add up to be more than the ticket cost to begin with. Also ask about restrictions on using the credit.

That happened to my friend - if the 1st leg is not used, the 2nd flight will be cancelled.
