I am a natural born US citizen living in Texas and my fiance is living in Honduras. I sent her K-1 application in last fall to the Vermont office and received a Notice of Action form dated November 10, 2008. I've tried both the online and the 1-800 phone number to check on the status and both say that my receipt number cannot be found.

I know we're still well within the expected "processing time", but I would assume that it should at least be acknowledged as being in the system as "pending" or something.

I've tried calling the 1-800 number to speak to a human and while it says, "Customer service representatives are available on this line from 8AM to 6PM, Monday through Friday", I can't figure out how you can possibly get to actually speak with these mythical customer service representatives.

I've read elsewhere on here that the "receipt number not found" problem has happened to other people, but I'd still like to be able to speak to a human there and verify things. Does anyone know how to get ahold of a human at USCIS?

If you have an NOA1 and they cashed your check, you are in the system. My wife has her green card and our petition is still listed as "received and pending" Don't worry.

You can circumvent the system by selecting the option for when you have lost your receipt number. Then you will get to a human being. As far as I see, this is the only way to get through to anyone. Very annoying. They clearly do not want people to call, even though the website tells you to call customer service if your record doesn't show up in the online system... which is pure mockery in light of the fact that there is no straight way to talk to a customer service rep if you actually do call about that issue. I think it is only fair to get someone to acknowledge the status at least once if it cannot be found online, although it is true that you are most certainly in the system and being processed. They have this glitch in the online system that lets some cases not show up. Ours is the same.
