Job Offer in Another State / Living Seperately

I just got a job offer in Austin, Texas. I was wondering if I accepted the job offer and move there alone when my wife is still in New York until she can find another job in Austin, Texas. Will that jeopardize my green card application?

I'm currently on OPT visa (F-1 until August 2009) and I have my EAD card, so I can take the job legally.

We bought a house almost three years ago, and we will have to sell it and that takes times. She also has a full time job and we do not want her to quit her job until she finds a job in Austin first unless she has to come with me then we will.

I'm not an expert on this, but proof of your relationship is not based entirely on your living circumstances. Other things like joint financial accounts, joint leases, etc are also taken into consideration. If you must live separately for awhile, I'd be sure that you have other significant proof that your lives are intertwined.

This is very tricky and I have no idea if it would affect your green card or not, but I know that the requirements to file for AOS through marriage is that you have to have common continued residency with your spouse, joint accounts such as bank, health, and life etc etc. I think the bonafide marriage portion of things will be difficult who knows. If I were you I wouldnt do this, but I would highly think about such a decision like this. Good luck to you.
