Young Fiance?

I am 29 and my fiance is 19. I read somewhere that in the Philippines a person has to be 21 to get married without parental consent. I already filed at the USCIS. Do I have to have heard dad type up a statement and sign it? If so do I only have to supply this to the Embassy in Manila? Is there a sample parental consent form? Does it have to be notorized? Thanks

Addittionally, when her father signs and notarizes it to you would hand one in with your application and keep a notarized copy for future needs would also be a great idea.

The problem is that I have already filed. Do I just need this for when she goes to the Embassy in Manila?

I don't think you need to send it to USCIS as they process petitions from all over the world and may not know the specifics of each country. This is a country/consulate specific issue so would be handed in at the embassy. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

We did Parental Consent due to my fiance being 20.

It is needed for CFO only, USEM will not ask for it

You can get a lawyer in PI to draw it up and notarize it, pretty cheap compared to USA.

Philippine family code (if I can rember correct)

Age 18 to 21 - Must have Parental Consent

Age 22-25 Must have Parental Advisement

Sorry, what is CFO? I am new to this.

Also can her dad, her, and I just type something up and bring it to a lawyer? Do we have to write it and sign it in front of the lawyer or just bring it to him? How much should I expect to spend (so I can bring extra $) Her mom lives far away and abandoned her when she was little so hopefully we don't need her too do we? Thank you so much.

CF0 - Your fiance will have to attend Seminar about 2 hours, and after she has her visa in hand she can go back to CFO and get a stamp to leave PI.

We had the same $hit to deal with on Parental consent.

Is her mother listed on Birth Certificate from NSO?

Yes she is listed. Does that mean both have to be present at the lawyers or can her dad just be there?

The problem will be with the CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas), which is required for all K Visas leaving the Philippines. They will require parental permission. The OP can check with CFO's website for more info:

It's for the protection of these young girls, many of whom, IMO, are not emotionally mature enough for marriage.

The only thing that I really need to know now is how to go about getting permission. Her dad and I are close but her mom left her when she was 2 and moved far away. I can get his permission. Do I need both or will his permission be fine?

Conan read this: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=129059

now read it again. & again & again.

the CFO thing is really confusing. i think it up to the interviewer at the CFO office if they want parental consent. (i hear Manila is more strict than Cebu) in our case, my wife (20 at the time) already had her visa in hand when she went to the CFO class (Cebu). she had a letter from her father & oldest sibling (mother is deseased) + a bunch of pics w/ us & her family & they never asked her for any letter or pics. some get grilled about it. so i'd get the letter just in case. & i think the CFO website has a form letter they can fill out & sign along w/ a couple witnesses.
