How can my timeline dates change so drastically in one day????

Timeline

Hi Everyone,

After we fill out our timelines here we are given an estimate of our wait time until adjudication. First, I understand that this is just an estimate based on the history of other people's experience here on VJ, but I like it as a reference. I see my estimated date move a little bit from time to time and I figure it is computer generated and moves as the data changes every day. However, yesterday or the day before my adjudication date was between Jan. 21 and January 29th and today it says between February 13th and March 7th!!!!! What could have caused my (and I imagine everyone else waiting for a k1 from Vermont) date to change so drastically? Should I be concerned that my wait time really jumped a month?

Thanks and speedy approvals to all!

K

Seems like everything through VSC has been very slow lately, so it is not surprising that the estimate has changed, I suspect the VJ database only uses data going back 6 months or so to give you an estimate.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

You can't go by the time lines here on VJ. My time line says my case should be adjudicated between October26, 2008 and November 16, 2008. I am still waiting for NOA 2. Good luck.

It's because some idiot cannot diferentiate between 2008 and 2009 yet! :ranting:

If you look at Igor's list, you'll notice that somebody added their timeline but instead of typing 07-30-2008 they've typed 2009! And that's what changed all our timelines. Hopefully, once they amend it, it'll get back to normal, slow VSC (but not as slow as currently showing as out estimated approval dates).

Good luck everybody!

I agree with that...this is just based on user input as far as I can tell and I have been watching the steady stream of NOA2's being received so I think all the August filers should be getting excited. Mine was August 27 and I'm expecting to hear something right after New Years.

August filers are excited lol...

As for the jump I can confirm that CSC had a similar problem where our timelines jumped forward and suddenly instead of guessing approval to be in a week range, they were showing a range of a month almost. The happened when someone listed their approval date in the future (about a month or so ahead). Apparently it doesn't take much to skew the date estimate with a forward date. Once that date had passed our timelines moved back to normal fairly quickly, but no action seemed to be taken by the the site maintainers in correcting the entry... this particular one will take a lot longer to self correct, maybe whoever is in charge of the formula can add a <= curdate() to the appropriate place to prevent this in the future (it wouldn't hurt to just not allow people to put in future dates for NOA2's and other things people can't actually know).

The dates fluctuate all the time. The timelines are based off of vj data....which means, vj users mistakes as well.

I know it's hard to see, been there - done that, but you must remember that it has nothing at all to do with uscis so it really has no bearing on your own personal petition. You will make yourself crazy if you put too much faith in the database numbers.

p.s. in the future, please refrain from personal attacks. Just because someone made a mistake does not necessarly make them an idiot. Besides, it is against the TOS. ;)

I've started to look at the list only recently.

I was also wondering why it jumped. Thank you. That explains... The person just updated his/her NOA2 date received back in July (?!) Why!?

I noticed that there are also multiple duplicates on the list. Some people don't even bother to update the dates forever... That list looks so messed up. Maybe it's time for admin to clean up some old data (?) Not sure...

I just checked my timeline a few minutes ago and I was super devastated when I saw our estimated adjudication date go from Dec. 7-13, 2008 to December 30, 2008 - January 21, 2009. Is VSC slowing down again?????? They were doing so well! Someone please tell me what's going on with the dates???

If you scroll down to the very last forum in the whole list, there is a place there for site related discussion. Perhaps Capt Ewok could address your questions or review your suggestions. I know he did a big software update a few days ago and maybe there's an explantion he could give to let you know if the timelines could have been affected by it.
