Just received my Employment authorization card what's next?

Hi, I just received my employment authorization card last week and i'm kinda owkderin what to do next. I already applied for a Social security number but they said they will verify it first to USCIS and will mail me my SS card. My question is, can i work eventhough they haven't issued my SS# yet but have my work authorization card? Thanks

Congratulations on getting your EAD! You'll probably have to wait until you get your SSN though before you can start working. Should only take you a few weeks to get it. You could definitely begin looking for jobs now. By the time you complete the interview process and get an offer, you should have your SS card.

Yes, you will need to wait until you get your SSN, but it should only take a few weeks, you may aswell start getting your resume together and start looking for jobs in the mean time. Well done!

In my opinion which is based on what I read on SS website you can work while you applied and wait for SS - EAD card is enough.

You should as well watch the tricks of SSA delaying games. My wife applied at the SSA in person 5 weeks ago, and they said it would take 4 to 6 weeks but last Tuesday,they had not even sent the verification request to the USCIS yet. To be on good side keep checking up with the SSA. Secondly,many employers cannot offer someone employment without the SSN. Its better to strive and get the SSN and be free to work comfortably
