Remember how a few short months ago we were getting 2 bucks for every pound? Today, the post office will give you $1.57. It's absolutely ###### infuriating, it really is.:angry::angry:

Its good for us, we are going home for 3 weeks at christmas time so the lower the rate the less it will cost us.

I know, I just bought something from ebay.com and was paying by paypal. I expected the rate to be about 1.85 or something but instead it was 1.60.

And after March, I'll be with you on that all the way. But until I get there, I want a sky-high exchange rate!

DamianP, you crack me up! Being in the US on the opposite side of the ####### dollar rates, let me tell you, it's been like donating a kidney every time I've been to the UK visiting Keith. 2 to 1, and everything in London is twice as expensive anyway, so I was like, eight pounds to ride the underground? Are you serious! Let's just say, we did a lot of walking. :hehe:

Keith called me today to weep about the rising dollar, and after a while I told him, "Um, maybe we should call this whole wedding thing off, because you know, half the reason why I agreed to marry you was because of the exchange rate... made you twice as rich as you really are!"

Silence.

Well, I thought it was funny!!! I promised him a box of gourmet assam tea to make it up to him. Ah, the things we do for love... :P

actually with my c*@$ income i was relying on the exchange rate to be high so i would be able to contribute more dollars, starting to wish i had money to send over before now when it was good. worse it gets the more piddly my bit for the wedding and my up keep looks, its not good :(

Yeah, I do understand... it is a bit shocking how much a difference it makes! But on the other hand, the catastrophe that is the US economy right now means that the dollar could do another nose dive. 700 billion dollar bailout? My bum!!!

personally i just want the pound to above the dollar till just after i move over there and the house prices in LA to be a little more reasonable than they are. cos even though its cheaper to buy a house in USA than UK, from a US income point of view they are a little over the top. my favorite part is when someone knocks down a small wooden house that prob was one level and two beds max, and builds an eight bed countless rooms not needed house on the same plot leaving room around the house of about one thin person width so prob a yard total, as a yard yep took it litterally. then ask $8 mil for it

and doesnt sell months later still $8mil or the new build appartments up the road that flit from for sale to fro rent to for sale cos they are always asking too much and never get any buyers or rents  how hard is it to work out the price and and avaliablity is more than demand. lower you prices and someone might bite

It was so much easier when it was $2 to the £, when I was in the states I would just halve everything and know how much it was, now when I go shopping I will have to take a calculator

Thank god I did not changeback the $'s I had left and bought at the good exchange rate

But remember whatever comes down has to go up, well I hope it does before I move over there or I will lose a fortune to what I thought I would take
