You can check two ways:

call 1-603-334-0700 and use your EAC receipt number on the automated service to check your status. (or you could talk to an operator)

or

email nvcinquiry@state.gov make sure that you include your EAC receipt number on the subject, also in the body of the email as well as the petitioner's full name and date of birth and beneficiary's full name and date of birth.

I've been checking myself...but from what I read this is the way they let you know.

Good luck!

The poster wishes to know how to track once it's left the NVC.

I understand you can track it using DHL. This is the way it's sent on to the Embassy.

NVC does not track K1's through their automated system so putting your EAC # into that will do you no good. Call NVC, dial 1 then 5 (i think, it's been a few weeks now ;) ) to talk to a human. They will tell you when the petition was sent out to the Embassy. Now go to DHL and track by reference. Put in EXP SEP 29 2008A .. using the day BEFORE they tell you it went out and then the range for the day they told you it went out. Confusing, I know. Look for your Country. It normally takes just 2-3 days to deliver pretty much everywhere in the world.

Your other option is to call DOS. Again, talk to a human. Do a search here for the #'s to get there. They can tell you when it arrived at the Embassy, if p3/info pack has been sent and if/when an interview has been scheduled.

good luck

Well this way of tracking can lead to major dissapointments believe me. The NVC sent Greg a letter which stated that the file would be send off to Belgium within a week (and he received a second notice after that letter), so assuming that our papers were in the next DHL shipment to Brussels and would be delivered at the Embassy the 22nd, we were very happy! Apparently the files are still wandering around at NVC, we're 2 weeks later ... I see everything I ever hoped for fading very fast now.

There are security checks at every stage sweetheart. We were also held up at NVC for 3 weeks while everyone else passed us by. Get what you can get done now and hopefully you'll find it moves very soon. :) We had everything done and just waiting... this is why our interview was only a day or so after it arrived at the Embassy. ;)

Oh, and just for the record. I got two letters from NVC both stating they'd send the approved petition out in a week... both with dates weeks apart. Never got the letter they're suppose to send that states they actually sent it. Like everything else in this process....

Thanks for the heads up Kim ... I've just been ranting to my best friend for half an hour ... I drove her to desperation. Are we the next Russ and Kim?

I got all my stuff together for a couple of whiles now, thank goodness the papers are valid for a couple of months ...

I did enter the following with my dates in DHL tracking. But says nothing available.

You sometimes need to play with the dates.... NVC told us the petition went out on a Thursday but it actually left N.H. on Friday. The day before the day they tell you is usually the reference number. Just play with the numbers until you can find packages that were sent out to your Embassy on or about the date they told you it was out.

It's not an exact science and there are no promises but it is one of the only parts of this process we can actually see moving. ;)
