I got the RFE letter today it says in my DS -230 I have either Skipped the ITEM 20 or provided incomplete information .

And asked for police clearance Certificates ...I will put complete information in Item 20 this time

but I have already summited my PCC with previous DS -230 .

my PCC covers only

* MY name my husband name

* Address

* My passport No . Date of Issue.

* Statement that there is no criminal record against me

but it does not Cover the entire period of the my residence in this area

I think i should go to police station tomorrow and request them to add the entire period of my stay in my PCC

Please reply your PCC covers the entire period of your stay .

I received the same RFE.

as for #20, just make sure you leave no gaps in time greater than 6 months.

As for the police certificate. They are not really asking for you to give it to them. They are just giving you instructions on getting it if you have already not. If you already have provided a police certificate previously then you should be fine.

I got the same letter, and the NVC said that they do not check the police certificates until the DS-230 is complete. If you have it already then don't worry about it.

I hope this helps,

Good luck!

i believe that ur clearance should be from the time you were age of 16.....OOM

k well i posted similiar question in another "south discussion" anways...

i'm alittle confused....some people are saying that a PCC is not required to submitt to NVC and some are saying that its required to send it in with DS230........so my quesiton is

do you need to provide or not?

Chintan is right (yes i'm agreeing with you even though you said I was wrong in another thread when I wasn't - i'm not holdling it against you  )

Every time you fill out a 'date' field incorrectly on the DS-230 - they add the bit on to the RFE about the Police Certificate (happened to us too).

They do this just to remind you that when you change the dates you might need another police certificate if the dates indicate you were in a place for 6 months or more.

I would call NVC and confirm exactly what they want.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but how does one fill out a 'date' field incorrectly?

Do you mean dates with gaps that are unaccounted for? Would something like 08-1987 to Present Time be ok? Or would that generate and RFE? The quotes around date made me think that because 'present time' is technically not a date.

It is ok and no RFE would be generated and one more thing PDF file would allow you to write the present time, so you would have to use the current month and year instead of present

In my husband's ds-230

on the police record of this district during his stay in this district this certificate is

only valid for immigration to USA this certificate is valid for six months only.

In case of any deletion or amendment, this certificate may render null and void

His passport no.xxxxx is issued by Regional passport office chandigarh
