I-551 Stamp or I-131 Form??

I'm confused! My husbands GC expires 8/2/08. We are traveling out of the US 9/2008. We've already filed the removal of conditions and he has already finished his biometrics.

I called USCIS... one person said to get the I-551 stamp, the other said to file I-131 re-entry permit. So which one?

Is anyone familiar with the USCIS INFOPASS? What "kind of service" do I need? I clicked on a couple, but none seemed to guide me to getting the stamp.

Please help!!

You dont need either, if you have NOA1 letter for I-751, that letter clearly states that it extends green-card for 1 year, and allows travel and work during that year.

Only if the letter is about to expire should you do an info pass and get an I-551 stamp.

Travel doc (I-131) is only needed if you plan on being out of the USA for more than 1 year but less than 2 years.

We filed for removal of conditions in May, but never got the NOA letter with the extention.

We made an INFOPASS appointment and got the I-551 stamp in her passport so that we could renew her drivers license.

06/21/2005 I-129F NOA2

07/18/2005 Consulate Received package from NVC

11/09/2005 Medical

11/16/2005 Interview APPROVED

12/05/2005 Visa received

12/07/2005 POE Minneapolis

12/17/2005 Wedding

12/20/2005 Applied for SSN

01/14/2005 SSN received in the mail

02/03/2006 AOS sent (Did not apply for EAD or AP)

02/09/2006 NOA

02/16/2006 Case status Online

07/24/2006 GC arrived

Hmm... ok thanks! I don't understand why their representatives tell you otherwise. :-/

It appears as though one of them got the impression you were waiting for AOS rather than lifting of conditions.
