Hi guys!

I found about this site just 2 days ago and yesterday just a few hours after I registered I got my interview  what a good coincidence! the waiting period was really frustrating I hope it goes well for all of you.

I have few questions for those who have experince about IR1/CR1 interview at Montreal embassy.

Do you know if visa is issued the same day or the day after interview?

when do they send me the instruction for doing medical and howlong does it take?

they normally issue the Visa in your passport the next day after 2:30pm. At the same time you will receive your brown envelope. These two items will be needed at your POE.

Some people were able to book and have their medicals before they received the appointment letter from the consulate in Montreal. I was only able to book but they would not give the medical (Medys, Front St. Toronto) without the letter. It may take a few days to get the results from your medical. The medical was about an hour and it includes getting a chest x-ray which you need to bring to your interview as well.

Do investigate the prices, I paid $190 for my medical and I know others paid more. Don't forget to gather all your immunization stuff beforehand. They won't release the medical without it.

Congratulations on getting this far in your journey.

Congrats. Like Wally stated, Mtl issues the Visa the next day or they can mail it to you via an pre paid express post envelope that YOU provide them. I did not require the actual letter for my medical appt in Halifax, but some doctors do require it. The approved Dr list comes in the final packet. You do require certain vaccinations. If you do not have a record of any, you can get your family DR to take a titre and from that they can determine what needles you have received in the past. Staff in Mtl are great. Do a search on VJ for montreal reviews or something along those lines, and you should find lots of info including near by hotels, travel info from/to airport, etc. Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

First of all, congratulations to getting to this point. :)

We have a lot of information collected in the Canuck Clearing House thread, which is the first link in my signature below. It is located on the previous Visa Journey database, and it has lots of threads about medicals, interview experiences, etc. And always feel free to ask questions, us Canucks are a friendly bunch. :)

Many best wishes for a successful interview!
