I'm legit!!!

I just got back from my interview, have called everyone to celebrate, dropped my husband at the golf course (sheesh), and thought I would update you guys on my Denver interview.

I was seriously nervous the night before and had a bad sleep. My husband did too, and he woke up with food poisoning (he's been out for a work dinner the night before). Great. So we hydrate and drag ourselves into the car with my gigantic folder of evidence and photos and hit the road.

The waiting room is about 1/4 full. There are two female IO's who keep walking out with smiling couples, congratulating them and wishing them well. Then they welcome the next couple equally profusely. They are kind of acting like long lost relatives or something. I think, "Hmm, this actually looks kinda fun", and stop feeling nervous.

Then the door opens and this stern looking guy barks out my last name. No smile, nothing. Great. He walks us to the room and swears us in. Then he starts rapid-firing (really easy) questions at me. "What is your birthdate? (duh)" "where did your husband reside before Colorado" "What is your address" "When did you meet?". I noticed he had my files open to the G-325A form. He points to one picture from my file and asks where it is. I tell him about the wedding we went to together. He asks me the standard prostitution/terrorism questions too.

Then he relaxes.

"Whistler, huh? [That's my hometown] I have always dreamed of going there. What's the snow like in January?" What?? Then he tells us he is an avid skier, and he and my husband get into this big long conversation about Utah vs. Colorado resorts. Then he mentions he has just moved from California, so they get into a big long chat about that too.

Next he asks for my husbands tax return, but quickly realizes that he has the 2007 return in my file already. He mentions how organized my application is and how that really helps. My husband tells him we had a disagreement about whether to hole punch at the top or the side (it's the top, I was right!), and the IO says it is so great when people do that for them.

Then he says "okay you're approved, so look out for your card in the mail in 2-3 weeks" and hands me a photocopied letter of explanation/approval.

He did not look at a single, solitary thing I brought with me. I was kind of disappointed, since I had such a lovely big file for him! He did not take my I-94 or my AP papers, or my EAD card. He never asked me about my intent on entry (as I entered as a tourist).

Then I ask about the I-155 stamp, since I am attending an important wedding in Canada next week. He says that they don't usually like to give them out, because it is an additional 15 minutes of paperwork, but if I have travel plans he would be happy to. It takes about 5 minutes, during which time he and his new best friend, aka my husband, chat about his four year old daughter, whose photo is on his desk.

That's was it!!

I get home and I already have an email from CRIS saying that my card production had been ordered...

Yippeee!

So sorry this was so long and detailed, but hopefully it might help someone else who is as nervous as I was. I guess you can never be too prepared, and it definitely helped me feel ready for anything, but it was a lot easier than I had anticipated.

Thanks everyone for being such a great support team - it has made a world of difference. You can do this w/o a lawyer, but it would have been close to impossible without everyone here **Feels like she is giving an Academy Award acceptance speech**

In Denver we got a stern lady, she was stern at the beggining, during the interview and after the interview. Then she gave us a stern approval. Congrats.

Thanks everyone:) I'm glad the review is helpful - I always liked reading them, especially the Denver ones. I know every experience is different, but this really was so simple, which could be nice to hear, especially for those of you who have already gone through so much to get this far.
