Obama is a post turtle

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year-old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our President.

The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Obama is a “post turtle.”

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a “post turtle” was.

The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a “post turtle”.

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain. “You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of a dumb ### put him up there.”

And he has no idea what to do next.

He Can't Be Serious

Jennifer Rubin catches Barack Obama in what looks like a serious misstatement about his telephone conversation with Iraqi foreign minister Hoshay Zebari. According to Obama, Zebari didn't raise the issue of Obama's troop withdrawal plans. But Zebari's account, as presented by the Washington Post, paints a different picture: "My message. . .was very clear. . . . Really, we are making progress. I hope any actions you will take will not endanger this progress." Moreover, according to Zebari, Obama responded by assuring him that a Democratic administration "will not take any irresponsible, reckless, sudden decisions or action to endanger your gains, your achievements, your stability or security." Obama added that "whatever decision he will reach will be made through close consultation with the Iraqi government and U.S. military commanders in the field."

Zebari is clearly more credible than Obama on this, and not just because Obama is running for office. Obama and his surrogates have been playing this kind of double-game (reckless statements for consumption by his base followed by reassurances to foreign leaders) all year. Think, for example, of the assurances his campaign provided Canada regarding NAFTA. Even on the issue of Iraq, Samantha Power (before her dismissal) was trimming Obama's position on immediate withdrawal. And, as Rubin points out, Obama recently told the Washington Post that that after all the pain and sacrifices of the past five years, "we are just turning the corner in Iraq" and a precipitous withdrawal "would create a huge vacuum and undo all the gains and achievements," causing the enemies of the United States to "celebrate."

It's no accident that Obama lacks credibility when he talks about Iraq. He's loath to advocate his offical substantive position -- prompt withdrawal -- to serious, informed individuals, but much of his usual audience is neither serious nor informed.

Obama VP Mention Campaigns for McCain

By Perry Bacon Jr.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- You can officially take James Jones off the list of Barack Obama's potential running mates.

The former commandant of the Marine Corps and commander of U.S. forces in Europe, whose name emerged from meetings Obama's vice-presidential team had on Capitol Hill last week, appeared at an energy event here with his longtime friend, Arizona Sen. John McCain.

Jones, a Missouri native, flew on McCain's plane from Washington to the event, and a McCain aide said Jones was a backer of the Arizona senator.

It was unclear if Obama's team had suggested Jones' name or if members of Congress had suggested it, and the Illinios senator has pledged to keep his process of picking a running mate secret until he announces the vice-presidential nominee.

Adviser denies Obama showed naivete on Jerusalem

Claudia Parsons

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama misused a "code word" in Middle East politics when he said Jerusalem should be Israel's "undivided" capital but that does not mean he is naive on foreign policy, a top adviser said on Tuesday.

Addressing a pro-Israel lobby group this month, the Democratic White House hopeful said: "Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided."

The comment angered Palestinians, who want East Jerusalem, captured by Israel in 1967, as the capital of a future state. "He has closed all doors to peace," Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said after the June 4 speech.

Obama later said Palestinians and Israelis had to negotiate the status of the city, in line with long-held U.S. presidential policy.

Daniel Kurtzer, who advises Obama on the Middle East, said Tuesday at the Israel Policy Forum that Obama's comment stemmed from "a picture in his mind of Jerusalem before 1967 with barbed wires and minefields and demilitarized zones."

"So he used a word to represent what he did not want to see again, and then realized afterwards that that word is a code word in the Middle East," Kurtzer said.

The U.S. Congress passed a law in 1995 describing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and saying it should not be divided, but successive presidents have used their foreign policy powers to maintain the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv and to back talks between Israel and Palestinians on the status of Jerusalem.

In practice, U.S. foreign policy is broadly aligned with that of the United Nations and other major powers, which do not view Jerusalem as Israel's capital and do not recognize Israel's annexation of Arab East Jerusalem after the 1967 war.

One member of the audience who said the remark -- and its subsequent clarifications -- did not speak well of Obama's foreign policy knowledge.

Kurtzer said it was unfortunate that so much time was being spent dwelling on one word of a 30-minute speech, "but it does not indicate any kind of naivete about foreign affairs."

He said Obama's speech showed a strong contrast with the policies of Republican hopeful John McCain.

"You either run it the way we've run it for the past eight years, or you engage, including with your enemies," he said.

Kurtzer, who teaches at Princeton, served under President George W. Bush as ambassador to Israel from 2001 to 2005 and was ambassador to Egypt under Bill Clinton.

Obama has faced wariness among some Jewish voters over his commitment to Israel, fueled by suspicion over his comments indicating willingness to talk to Iranian leaders.

"We do not at all recommend any diminution of U.S. support for Israel," Kurtzer said.

But he said U.S. policy needed to be made in Washington.

Kurtzer said Obama's willingness to engage with enemies did not extend to Hamas, and that position was unlikely to change even after the Palestinian militant group agreed an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire with Israel this week.

sad..

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

yes it would be sad, i love hillary and would have been perfectly content with her as the nominee even as the president, but dont care much for mccain as a leader, calling woman cunts and his continued flip floping makes me not care much for him!

You are getting more bitter by the day illumine, and the mccain supporters will always be there for you to nudge you along. ;)
