VisaJourney Timeline Estimates Improved

In the past the VJ Timeline system estimated approval dates and gave a single date. This was useful but after considering feedback from members it was determined that a "range of likely dates" that an application might be approved in is better. To that end we now provide a range of dates for estimated approval dates.

For the more curious, this range of dates can be looked at as follows. Roughly 60% of people should have approvals by the first estimated date and nearly 85% of all people should be approved by the second date. This range should give people a MUCH better idea of when they will be approved and allow people to plan much better "ahead of time" for their approvals. This is also a much more statistically useful method.

As usual there is a great degree of "data filtering" in the background being done to help eliminate extraneous timeline data and improve estimates.

Feedback is welcome!!

I was wondering why we do not have a timeline estimate on our timeline site?

You need to enter your I130 Sent Date to trigger the estimate. :)

You could be faster than the average VJ'er and beat the estimates too :). There is a % chance that will happen! The estimates are on the long end so there are certainly cases that are faster. As far as the estimates it is better not to over promise estimated approval dates (dates that maybe only a small % of people would be approved by). The estimated dates as they are calculated now are more reasonable for the large majority of people.

ARe you filtering those timelines that haven't been updated ?? I think they may also skew the numbers some if they've been approved but never entered in VJ timeline???

Any incomplete timelines are not used :).

It'd be nice if there were a tick box for people who were approved via expedite so that you could eliminate them from the data when you are coming up with your estimates. If you look at something like Vermont with CR1/IR1s where so few NOA2s are coming out, expedites are going to really skew the numbers in a very misleading direction.

Very nice. Would like a sooner date, but at least it gives me something to look for. Thank you for the post.

Yes, people who requested and received an expedited adjudication due to hardship or military service or whatever. Expedites.

I think it is a great idea! I was curious about terminology. For "adjudication", is that the date for having the whole visa approved or just the particular form before the interview. Do you understand my question?
