ＣＲ－１ Ｖｉｓａ birth certificate translation

Hi everyone!!!

I need some help for CR-1visa....I just finished translate my birth certificate but on the USCIS website it says " All documents that are in a language other than English must be submitted with a translation. The person translating the document must certify that the translation is complete and accurate and that he/she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English."

How official does a translator need to be to translate my birth certificate ? From my knowlege basically anyone can translate it and it could be by myself.if so does it have to be notarized??

I am in Japan and my husband is in the US,we are trying to apply for CR-1visa but I dont know where to start...

Please help me!

For the embassy in Tokyo it actually says:

Translations

All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations.

As for the translations and certification, anybody can do it. All they have to do is sign a statement at the end of the translation that says something like "I, NAME, certify that I am fluent in both English and Japanese and that this document is correct to the best of my knowledge. Signature"

That's it.

Yes, you can translate yourself. Either add a separate page with the mentioned statement, or put it at the end of the translated document.

I translated all my documents myself, though birth certificate (marriage certificate, death certificate) etc. I obtained 'international' ones. If you can get those, it is even easier!

if you dont mind ,could you tell me what you sent for "Evidence of a bonafide marriage "??

Im going to send phone bills,joint bank account statment,letter from my husband's boss,pictures...do i need to send more?like love letters and emails??

When dealing with the USCIS you can translate yourself if you qualify.. The US Consulate in Tokyo may have a different requirement. Understand what they need so you are prepared when you reach that stage.

so for USCIS I can translate it myself..but those documents have to be notariezed???

Maybe I missed something. You don't say what this is for (yes I know CR-1)...

The beneficiary 's birth certificate is NOT require at all for the I-130.

It IS required for the DS-230... You can translate it. The guidelines say you must include a letter that says you are qualified...

Another thing you might try (I'm planning on it)... Is to use the fill in the blank ones at the Tokyo Embessay and have it notarized there. They claim this is what is required for a baby passport, so I'm guessing it is good enough for the NVC.

BTW, here is a sample translation letter:

My name and address are as stated below; that I am fluent in Japanese language and in English language, and that I believe the translation of the attached document title “fill in title HERE” is true and complete translation.

Date of Issue: May xx, 2008

Here is the embassy translation form:

You can take this and the real one to the embassy and have them notarize and RIVET the two together. I think that removes the need for the translation letter..

Phone bills and bank account info should be enough. I didn't have either. I sent two affidavits from friends... Worked out fine.

Im using my birth certificate as proof for my name change and divorce documents ... I changed my name when I was 7years old and its not on

the original family register...I found something on the original removed family register but Im wondering if I need to submit all the documnts showing my name changed???

I'll re-read the I-130 instructions but a name change doesn't require supporting documents.

Please point me to where that is stated....

I might add that my wife changed names twice (due to previous marriage and our marriage). They do ask for divorce documents, so I guess that supports the first family name change. I didn't send anything for the name change to my family name.

two affidavits from friends.....like letters or essays??My husband is going to ask his boss and friends to write some letter as affidavits..do they have any forms for it??
