I am wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge regarding filing affidavits of support while taking out loans as a graduate student. I have summer income and savings but I also have access to loans. If I have enough savings will that be sufficient? If I can show that my summer employment will total greater than the poverty standards will that be sufficient?

Thanks.

I was in a similar situation last year, http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...;p=1011373& This thread explains what I did.

Yes, your savings may be sufficient. I think it needs to be 3 times (or 2.5. almost positive its 3) the difference. If you are $1000 short of the poverty guideline, then you must have (and document!) at least $3000 in savings.

Also, I think they are most concerned about your current income, so maybe your summer job will be sufficient.

I think its best to present you situation as completely and clearly as you can and you should be fine.
