POE question about JFK

My fiancee and I will be coming in together. I am going there for a week in late May and will bring her back with me. But once we get into JFK, I will go to the US citizens line and she'll to the visitors line.

She speaks very little English. My question is... if she waited until I cleared immigration and then got on line, would I be able to walk over from the back to the station where she'll be getting processed to help translate? Would that be allowed?

I'm interested in hearing all opinions, especially those who came thru JFK?

Would she technically be a "visitor" though?

I may be wrong but I think I've read about couples going together in the US citizens line together to activate the K1....

I'm sure someone can clarify.....

I think you can accompany her in which ever line you choose (Citizen or visitor). I think this is how others have handled it in the past.

You can go together through either line but I would suggest using the US citizen line as it is usually quicker. Won't be any problem. I told them I was a US citizen with a K-1 fiance and they had no problem at all. They will stamp your passport, take her picture and index finger print then direct you to the next place for further processing.
