True/False - Acceptable/#######?

"The U.S. Marine filmed throwing a crying puppy off a cliff may have been trying to prove his strength or bravery, several mental health professionals told ABCNEWS.com. The Marine's identity has yet to be confirmed but the United States Marine Corps has launched a full investigation and deemed his actions as "deplorable." " :help:

He's not the first one. There have also been instances of soldiers torturing puppies and one of soldiers exploding a kitten, all of which they put online as videos.

When I first found out about this I was pretty much inconsolable. Please, I am asking everyone in this thread, DO NOT post any videos of dying puppies that our soldiers have made. Please please please. I can't even look at the screen capture.

It was on the news this morning, but they didn't show beyond him holding the puppy up. I wouldn't want to see it, but I do think it's necessary to examine the phenoman, if indeed it is one and see what the armed services should do to ensure that mental problems are treated not allowed to fester until things like this occur.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Even if that proposition were true, explain to me the rationale behind making a video with a dead puppy being tossed? How does one acquire a freshly dead puppy (the puppy wasn't showing signs of rigor mortis) and how is that an acceptable way to treat a dead puppy? What is the purpose of making a video that purports to be a live puppy being thrown to its death? Whatever way you slice it, that's not rational/normal behaviour.

Ignoring for one second the obvious moral and ethical implications of such an act, I have to ask... why make the video and post it on YouTube in the first place? That seems incredibly stupid to me. Sure, it might gain some laughs from a few sociopaths on the Internet, but is that really worth putting your career, reputation and family's character (which may be nothing like your own) at risk? I wouldn't think so.

Isolated incident #6 and PH?? Or was it something along the lines of "this sort of stuff happened all of the time and is only being brought to our attention by the media now". Apparently in the 70's and 80's they did not have cameras..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Sigh. You don't seem to want to understand the point that's been elaborated and explained to you in half a hundred different ways. That being established once again - I give up.

The media coverage of extreme crimes is distortive - the fact that something like this appears in a news media that's much bigger and more pervasive that it has ever been, says absolutely nothing about how common (or not) these types of things are.

I'm not saying anything particularly controversial here...

You ask people to kill other people and then are surprised when they torture animals? I know lots of soldiers are good people, but a lot of soliders also return home pretty disturbed. It's not surprising to me that stuff like this happens. :(
