Immigrant Data Summary for K1

Hoping someone can help. :help: I'm getting 2 answers from all my research. My fiance recieved her Visa just the other day and it did not have the Immigrant Data Summary for USA bound emigrants. I read that becuase she is K1 she does not require the summary I don't know if this is true. Can someone shed light on that or does she still need the summary?

Also with the passport there was a flyer for the SMEF-COW and thats the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, a warning that says do not open the packet but the packet is open at the side, do you think that will cause problems?

Thanks

Hi,

I was worried about the brown envelope too...the papers were exposed at one corner. I called the embassy and the woman said it was okay to open both plastics, but do not disturb the brown envelope. We had the man at the CFO open it for us, just to be safe.

as far as I know, immigrant visa summary is not for K-1 visa holders. only the brown envelope and passport is sent/given to the approved applicants.

Also with the passport there was a flyer for the SMEF-COW and thats the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, a warning that says do not open the packet but the packet is open at the side, do you think that will cause problems?

no, it won't. The embassy did it for their own purposes. Just try not to open it. Mine, Delbros made a small cut enough for my passport to be taken out and I didn't tear the bag to be safe.

I found this on the CFO website:

Fiancé/e visa holders to the US are not issued an Immigrant Data Summary since K1 visas belong to the non-immigrant visa category.

Here is the link:

Thanks all!

Hello guys,,correct me if I am wrong. The Immigrant data Summary is only for immigrants bound for US. K1 and k2 visas dont have the IDS.

I came here on a K1 visa in 2007 and i Only have the brown envelope that has the warning "DO NOT OPEN ". My kids came here 2 months ago on an IR2 visa and they have that IMmigrand Data Summary right in front of the envelope where their visas and other documents inside that packet was.

Your 5 and 6 yr. old kids dont need to attend the CFO seminar but u still have to go there to register ur kids and pay the same.

My kids are 9 and 12..i went to the CFO office in Nov.18.2010 to get their CFO done..they did not have to attend the seminar..i just registered them and pay and u are good to go.

You the mom needs to attend the seminar coz it is required.
