my interview is at federal plaza rather than garden city, does anyone know why? it looks like most interview experiences posted in the reviews are in garden city. any experiences for federal plaza?

I dont know why yours is at Fed Plaza but hey its even closer if you live in the city just take that Subway for us Garden city i gotta take that LIRR and a cab so have to plan my route early either way Fed plaza or garden city lets hope we all will get good news. Good luck.

I had my interview today at Garden City and the whole experience has just put me in a bad mood. We arrived 30 minutes before our 8:30 appointment. There was a long line so we had to wait outside until it was our turn to go through security. Once we got in we took our appointment letter to the window, where we were told to sit and wait. After a 40 minutes wait, we were lead stairs where we spent another 90 minutes waiting to hear our name called for the interview. Our immigration officer in my opinion could not be anymore condescending and unpleasant than she was.

First off my husband and I only speak English, yet she felt the need to ask us 3 times if we needed an interpreter. She introduced herself and swore us in.

Second she asked for our IDs then jumped into badgering my husband.

Questions to my husband (US Citizen)

How many children do you have? (We have 3 together).

Do you have children with anyone else? (No)

Does your wife have children with anyone else?

What is that date of birth of the first child?

What time of the day was he born?

Were you there at his birth?

How many siblings does your wife have?

Where did you meet your wife? (Online)

How many times did you visit your wife while she was in college?

How many times did she visit you?

Where were you living at the time when she visited you?

Have you ever met her parents? (NO)

What is her father’s name?

What does he do?

What is her mother’s name?

What does her mother do?

Are they divorced?

How come you don’t remember your father-in-law’s name?

Have you ever spoken to him on the phone?

What did your wife graduate from college?

What did your wife study in college?

When did you get married?

How long were you dating your wife before you got married?

How long were you living with her before you got married?

Why did you wait so long to get married to your wife, after you had 3 kids?

What is your wife phone number? (He responded saying he just dial my name from his phone)

What if you lost your phone, how would you get in contact with your wife?

What type of job do you do? Shouldn’t you be good with numbers given the nature of your job as a software engineer? (I think this was just a bit condescending)

How come you 2 don’t have that many pictures together? (With 3 children under 2 taking pictures has become a bit difficult of a task)

Does your wife work?

How many bank accounts do you have?

Is your wife’s name on both of them?

What was the amount deposited to the savings account that you wife recently opened?

Why is your wife name not on the account that you had while you were in college?

How many bank accounts does your wife have?

Questions to me were:

How many siblings does my husband have?

Have you met your husband parents?

Have you met his brother?

The other questions about ever been arrested, terrorist etc?

How many bank accounts do I have?

At the end of the interview she said that I still had to pass final security check. My options were to either wait for about 2 hours at that local office or just wait to get my decision in the mail. She removed my I-94 and wrote the following in my passport. “A #, I-485 pending / CR-6, present at the GCU NY office with her signature and date”. She never mentioned anything about me being approved and mentioned that I should not leave the country. She also returned my EAD to me and showed us the way out. I did not wait for 2 hours at the office because my 2 younger children were with the babysitter, and I wanted to get back to them. We did take our 2 year old to the interview. She looked at banks statements, lease and the other stuff they ask you to bring in on the letter. She took some of our pictures, even though we had already sent in pictures with our original packet. She returned the tax returns that were in the original packet along with the marriage certificate.

That sums up my interview experience. I am a bit disappointed, but I don’t believe anything we could have said would have made the interview experience any pleasant. My advice for anyone would be to just remember as much as you can about dates because she was more focused on dates and locations.

My interview will be at Garden City this Wednesday, so i will post a review when we get back.
