Who to call?

Hi guys,

I got to the US in the middle of November and still haven't received my Welcome Letter or my green card. Is this normal? Who should I call about this? Where can I find out if these two things have actually been sent to me already but I just haven't got them?

You should have a I-551 stamp in passport, I believe that stamp is good for 1 year. USCIS is tremendously backed up from a flood of petition filings this past summer and this seems to be affecting all mailings from them.

As said the I-551 stamp is your GC for 12 months. When I arrived last November I was told at POE if I hadn't got my GC within 9 months then to follow it up.

The whole system is clogged right up with the application flood they suffered just before the fees went up.

Hello Jasmin,

It took about 7 weeks for my husband to get his. I called the USCIS each week for updates after the 4th week until I received it. They're really backed up entering all the info from the people going through each POE.

I have been here 9 weeks now and i dont know anyone who arrived after me who has received a GC

When I got here, the POE Immigration Officer told me the I-551 stamp on my passport is my temporary GC and that if I don't receive my GC after 6 months, then that's the time I should bug USCIS. But I received my GC after 3 weeks of arrival. You will receive your GC, they maybe just busy due to some back logs and the Holidays. Welcome to the U.S.!
