On our Interview notice, it states that the US Citizen needs to bring their Birth Certificate as well as evidence of US Citizenship. Does anyone know if this is a "hard rule"? Or, will my US Passport ONLY suffice??? Just wondering if I need to jump through some hoops to get a copy of my birth certificate. Thanks.

Bring what they are asking for, it is recommended to bring the originals as well as copies of everything sent to them so far, from initial I-130 and/or I-129F petition up to now. The officer can ask to look at anything that is in the file, they may want to confirm that the copies in the file are genuine.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

At the AOS interview our IO asked if I had my birth certificate with me, and I said yes. She said ok, but then never asked to see a copy of it. Be on the safe side and bring it, cause if the officer asks for it and you dont have it, you will face delays on your approval.

Also, it must be an original with a stamp, not a copy.

Hi. We had our interview in tucson and were worrying about this! My husband has had trouble in the past as the name on his birth cert is incorrect and its caused major problems wioth getting his passport and things - we were worried that if they see the different name on his birth cert it would only start new problems!!! lol! We took his passport instead - but the lady who interviewed us didnt ask anything from him!! Or me actually! Maybe the fact he turned up at the interview in his airforced uniform help? lol! i dont know!!! Good luck!
