Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?

N400: Admitted to Weed during Green Card (was it a crime I was not arrested for?)
To start, marijuana is illegal in my country of origin. When I was applying for my green card I admitted to trying marijuana when I was in my 20's (I'm 49 now). I got my green card and have lived in the US for 5 years. I'm in the process of applying for citizenship. What answer should I give to the question: "Have you EVER committed, agreed to commit, asked someone else to commit, helped commit, or tried to commit a crime or offense for which you were NOT arrested? Yes or No" given that I admitted to past marijuana use during the GC process?

Fiancée threatened with deportation by customs agent after arriving at airport for false accusations. How concerned should we be?
Firstly, I want to get some things clear because I know everyone will say this otherwise:
We are seeing an immigration attorney for consultation soon. We've already printed out several documents to prove that my fiancée is not coming here with the intent to live here for the future until they get the K-1 Visa... Now, Heres the actual story...

Fiance or Marriage Visa in 2025 ? Pros and cons?
    I'm 23F 🇨🇿, my partner is 29M 🇺🇲
We want to get our visa going sometime this year and want to be together as soon as possible but we are still unsure which visa would serve us better. I'd like to get married in my home country but on the other side i wouldn't mind getting married paperwise in the US and waiting for my work permit and etc if it would allow us to be together faster and then save up for and have our dream wedding in my home country.

What do you think ? All of this is so overwhelming and confusing and we just want to do the right thing.

I asked the same question on reddit, so many people recommended me to go with fiance visa, two suggested marriage visa. I need more input and advice  from experienced people. Thank you
Ps: is it possible to have dual citizenship so i don't lose one from my home country? How does that work ?

19 months for case decision. Is this estimate accurate?

    Hey everyone,

So, after a couple of weeks of waiting for my l-130 submission so my husband can get a CR1 Visa, I just got an update on the USCIS site that the estimated time for case decision is a whopping 19 months. This is an insane amount of time, I wanted to ask if these estimates are correct and really take that long? Before applying, I remember seeing most people mention that the average is 11 months, so I'm really surprised to be given that much waiting time, especially since in the timeline this is just step 2 out of possibly 12. Would anyone kindly be able to weigh in on this?

    Thanks!

    USCIS Verifying Employment?

Might be a nothingburger but I'm just curious: how does USCIS verify employment other than tax transcripts and paystubs? Do they ever contact employers? What if the income is foreign based?

Reason: my husband suspended his employment when he left for the US and after receiving his EAD touched based with his former employer to see how the transition was going since he was a project leader for them. They said they could use him again as his replacement was struggling and they put him back on the payroll to work in a remote position. We figured this would be an easier course to take since looking for work in the US might've been an uphill slog we weren't ready to shoulder, and knew this would be guaranteed income as soon as he was authorized.

Will USCIS inspect the hiatus in his employment or raise flags about his present employer being the same as it was before he left South Africa? Should we bring an employment letter similar to what I included with the I-864 to verify his hiatus or will they ever call the employer to check? We did file joint taxes and the pay he received in 2024 reflected a pause in his income for the two and a half months he was unemployed, but the transcript does not reflect a monthly breakdown, and of course we can't supply paystubs for nonexistent pay periods.

Anything we can provide as evidence here, or are we fine just explaining the hiatus at the interview? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone! I hope this is under the correct category

my interview is coming up and I would totally do it on the spot I feel very prepared and love my husband so much that I don t have any worries (and vice versa lol) but I have one point that I don t know how to think about. I read that lots of people got asked who proposed and how the proposal happened. Our situation was that we just decided that we wanted to move on and be able to live together so we decided to get married (K1). I m sure we re not the only ones with no real proposal but I worry that they might think that we just did it for other reasons besides wanting to live our life together I hope this makes sense. Would you mind sharing your experience or whatever so I can start relaxing about this possible question? thanks a lot in advance! We will totally answer all questions truly but I just worry that they might think bad of this

Going over the paperwork - i'm the citizen my husband is applying - he's never had a traffic ticket - I taught him to drive - shortly after he got his license he had a fender bender with someone - no police called, insurance was exchanged - 2 years later she submitted to our insurance that the incident aggravated some existing back issues (If i remember it correctly). Everyone was wearing their seatbelts. From everything I understand they decided NOT to pursue anything further. (the incident happened around 2014 or 15 and the letter came nearly 2 years later, indicating the statute of limitations was nearing and I don't even know if I have that letter from my insurance company any longer )

My question pertains to the crimes and offenses area. It states if you have ever been in a traffic incident, you must provide documentation of traffic incidents only if the incident: 1. involved drugs or alcohol 2. Led to an arrest; or 3.) seriously injured another person.

In my opinion, my first inclination is to say no - she was not seriously injured- just want to make sure we are answering things correctly. If needed I could contact my insurance company. don't want to go overkill here just want to get the questions correct.

quandary about vaccination and visa dates

Hello, my parents (69 and 76 year olds) live in Bangalore and have their visa appointment in Chennai on May 9th. However, their vaccination appointment, also in Chennai, is on April 29th. Since they live alone in India, I am a little concerned about them having to make two trips from Bangalore to Chennai in the span of a week or having to spend a whole week in Chennai where they don't know anyone (dad has medical needs). Short of changing the appointment date, I am wondering what options I have to make this a bit easier on them. If anyone else has gone through this situation, I would like your advice.

    Thanks!
