Can I anybody tell me what exactly is the A number that is requested on these forms? Is it the number that is handwritten on the I-94 and also on the visa that is placed in the passport?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Yes that is correct Mike, it also appears above the beneficiary's name on the NOA2.

It is your Alien registration number, it will be in you passport on the Visa, and the easiest place to find it is on NOA2 above the beneficiary's name.

What if the A number on the NOA2 isn't on the Visa anywhere? I am looking at Darcy's visa stamp in his passport and the A number on the NOA2 isn't listed anywhere. I used the A number on the NOA2 on all the forms so I hope I have it right.

Jen,

Not all consulates put the A# on the visa. Posters who write that the A# will be on the visa without qualifying their statement are providing misleading information.

You were correct to use the A# from the Approval Notice - it is, afterall, the USCIS that assigns the A#.
