Expediting INterviews

Hi So I am just wondering we dont have our interview date yet our case closed on November 6 2012 at the NVC so we are in line but did not make the December cut no more available slots so hopefully January but we were wondering if there was anything we can as we have a son who has not met his father yet..thanks

You do not have a reason for an official expedite.

However, some embassies are flexible, if you can be flexible. So once everything is set and you have an interview date, contact them and say that you are ready, and are able to be at the embassy with 2 hours/ 2 days/ whatever notice, so please call you if there is a cancellation. Not all embassies will, but worth a try.

Expedite requests depends on Consulate/Country you are in, some consulate do expedite for basic reasons.

India has refused mine even due to medical reasons.

yea i figured a child wouldn't be a good enough reason guess i was being overly optimistic since im a disabled veteran etc...thanks for the responses its just hard watching our son grow and daddy missing sooo much and i just miss my husband its been almost a year since ive seen him

Tell them about being a disabled veteran, many embassies will do their best for the people who served to keep the USA safe,

It has to be pretty dire circumstances to get an expedite, but it is always worth a shot! There is a VJ member here with pretty desperate circumstances but in her particular embassy, she wasn´t able to get an earlier interview. however, that is her embassy. if you don´t ask, the answer is always no.

There's several steps along the way at NVC, to ask for an expedite.

First, once the casefile hits NVC and the AOS FEE BILL is received by the petitioner (in his/her email inbox)

then it's a great timetick to ask for an expedite.

NVC will inquire with the IV unit , then if the IV unit says OK - all further caseprocessing stops at NVC.

The casefile is sent off to the IV UNIT, and then the IV unit tells the beneficiary what the date is.

On or prior to the interview date, the rest of the paperwork processing must occur, including fee payment, at the IV Unit.

Since the OP is complete at NVC for document intake and paying fees, is still possible to ask for an expedite.

Send off an email to SuperVisor Sue requesting the expedite. NVC will still ask with the IV unit about it, and if'n the IV unit agrees, then the IV unit will find the next available slot.

So, ya gotta get in touch with NVC, get a human, and ask about the expedite.

You won't know anything until you ask.... Please remember that each IV unit has different focus for an expedite - as they really look at their calendar and your particular circumstances. What works for Mexico doesn't work for Canada which doesn't work for London - most are different but there IS that underlying theme of 'will the IV Unit accept the expedite request and act on it'.

If you're one of those who already has an interview date assigned, is also possible to ask for an earlier interview date. This isn't an expedite at all; simply requesting an earlier interview date with the IV unit (not NVC).
