my wife is citizen and i (a UK citizen ) can I get in to the USA on a VWP then go for a green card once he is in the country?

No. You need to apply for a CR1/ IR1 if she's there and you're here, or DCF (Direct Consular Filing) if you're both in the UK and she's resident for 6 months or more.

You mean, can you circumvent US immigration law by entering as a visitor/tourist and remain. Well gee - if it were that easy...

Tell me about it. Was looking at the Irish immigration regulations this morning for another VJer and I have to say, I'm sorely tempted to just up and move to Ireland! Non-EEA spouses that don't require visitor visas just walk in on a 90 VWP and then show up at the police station to register for permanent residency... madness.

I totally agree.

Do you by any chance know if there is any way to redirect people who want to immigrate to the US and want to live under palm trees in California or Florida, to Ireland and enjoy constant rain and sheep dunk instead?

I know... it still drives me insane!!!

We could have gone through Ireland or the UK, had we wanted to. In the UK, the process was only about 3 weeks at the time for me to move there.

But, it's done and now he's here. :)
