If you have a sponsoring USC, they also have to provide a change of address with that I-864 thingy and within ten days. Still have that hanging over my head until my step daughter gets her USC. I-864 does expire, can't remember, but think it lasts for around ten years with so many work credits, quicker to shoot for USC.

Hi Jon2009,

Congrats about getting your 10yr green card. Likewise, I was "in between cases" when I moved too...I had received my 10yrs green card (in June), then had a baby (in July), then moved (in August), and filed for Citizenship (in September)...(yeah, it was crazy..lol..)....

But in the midst of all that while unpacking and recovering, I somehow managed to do the following (as also mentioned on my detailed VJ timeline):

Chapter 6: "Moved":

2009-08-07: Sent the AR-11 (Alien's Change of Address Card/Form for Ant) (note: form sent to Kentucky)

and I-865 (Sponsor's Notice of Change of Address for D, my husband) (note: form sent to Vermont)

2009-08-17: Received NOA/reciept for D's I-865 form, but no NOA/reciept for Ant's AR-11 form.

Total USCIS AR-11 and I-865 Costs: Free (plus mailing costs of $11 via USPS w/delivery confirmation)

(Note: You can download both forms from the www.uscis.gov website. The AR-11 form you can file online or send by mail. The I-865 form your sponsor has to be sent by mail....)

So yes, you (within 10 days) and your sponsor (within 30 days) have to inform the USCIS about the move too, regardless, as by law, as a permanent residents and their sponsors have to do such, or face conseqences. As well, I also enclosed a copy of the AR-11 forms and I-865 reciept for my US Citizenship application, just in case they missed it when I sent it to them before..

Hope this helps too. Good luck with the rest of your journey.

Ant

I got my 10 years GC since month, and I change my address, should I have to notice them ? I don't have any case open now, I'm illegible to file to citizenship May 2010.

thanks

You forgot to mention that you are free of all that stuff now.

NickD-Lol..That is true......I'm free from the USCIS now that I'm a US Citizen!

One of the "perks" about being a US Citizen.....No need to inform the USCIS about where you move... :star:

Move wherever in the world, and you will still be a US Citizen!

(lol...though informing the IRS and other government agencies is another issue....)

Nevertheless, I'm still hanging around and not free from vj.......gosh who knows why.......addicting?........lol....
