Hello Everyone;

We got to the US on Novermber 7th, 2009 and today (November 23rd) we recieved NOA I-797C. It states the following;

"To process you r application, U.S.C.I.S. must capture your biometrics. Please appear at the below application support center at the date and time sepcified. If you fail to appear as scheduled, your application will be considered abandoned."

I thought this notice was received when you filed for adjustment of status. Has anyone else gone through this?

It's either a mistake OR they didn't get good scans back at the consulate.

Suggest ya show up, leave the time machine at home ;)

Hello Again;

We just got back from USCIS. I spoke to the same two supervisors that helped us with the I-212 and asked them why we had received this new request for Biometrics? They just stated that this is the way the did the Green Cards now. They were even nice enough to bump our appointment from November 12th to Now (three weeks ahead of schedule).

So my wife went through Biometrics and was told that in 10 days she should have her Green Card. Thanks again to all of you who took the time to read this thread and especially to those of you who answered.

Good luck to the rest of you.

hmm, new process huh.

But wait, before once you enter US with a Cr1 visa, you will only need to wait for your green card to arrive in your Mail at your US address., But what does this new USCIS thing mean? I can't seem to comprehend how does this new loop comes from.

I got some questions here that will not only benefit my curiosity by also others who will be arriving to the US.

-Do you get this notice on your POE?

-Do you receive this notice in your email/mail shortly after your POE?

-or do we need to send something again to the USCIS so we could get an appointment?

Kindly enlighten us Bocajr27.

Thank you very much!

Alas - you need to come into the USA . The POE is recorded magically, and then the 'send the green card' process is started.

There is no 'before once you enter'.

You MUST Enter the USA for the 'get the green card' process to start.

Biometrics after POE is a new thing, ya ?

Prior, it was taking 10 to 45 days to receive the greencard.

Now, there is an additional biometrics step to do between 'POE' and 'receive green card'.

I don't know if it's for ALL, or if for CERTAIN COUNTRIES, or if it's RANDOM, or if there was a bad fingerprint scan at the Consulate/Embassy.

Any one of these reasons seems plausible, to me.

Good Luck !!

Hey MythaG - it hasn't arrived yet? well - yer still within the 'normal' window of waiting, after POE date - don't sweat that part (yet).

But - there's been 2 cases reported here on VJ (this thread has one instance ) where the beneficiary had to go into an ASC office, to have the fingerprints captured for Biometrics. I have only 2 points about this :

1. is this new REQUIRED process for all? or

2. I don't know if it's for ALL, or if for CERTAIN COUNTRIES, or if it's RANDOM, or if there was a bad fingerprint scan at the Consulate/Embassy.

Keep an eye on yer postal mail. and good luck !

I have entered this past Sunday and wasn't told anything about this new process. Anyway is it possible to call USCIS to fingd out about the new process. Because I was gonna leave and travel on my IR1 visa in case GC takes too long to arrive, but now even dont know what to do with this new biometrics thing.
