How skinny is too skinny?

In the pic Nick posted she looks great. What on earth made them think she needed to be so badly photoshopped? Did they really think an ad pic with a skeleton woman with a disgruntled ("######, give me a snickers.") look on her face would sell clothes to the average woman? I get that men prefer skinny women to obese and even slightly chubby women, but would a guy really find someone that underweight attractive?

On September 29th, Boing Boing's Xeni Jardin posted the ad, which originally appeared on a blog dedicated to pointing out suspected retouched images called Photoshop Disasters, with the comment, "Dude, her head's bigger than her pelvis." Ralph Lauren responded by filing a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) complaint against Boing Boing and Photoshop Disasters, claiming that their use of the image was a copyright infringement that fell outside of the Fair Use laws which allow the media to reproduce creative content for the purposes of commentary and criticism.

The Internet service provider hosting Photoshop Disasters (Google Blogspot) deleted the post containing the image, while Boing Boing's (Canada's Priority Colo.) did not. In response, Boing Boing editor Cory Doctorow issued a stern warning to Ralph Lauren yesterday on the website, saying that the company's attempt to silence their criticism has only inspired them to step up their efforts in the future:

"Copyright law doesn't give you the right to threaten your critics for pointing out the problems with your offerings. You should know better. And every time you threaten to sue us over stuff like this, we will:

a) Reproduce the original criticism, making damned sure that all our readers get a good, long look at it, and;

B) Publish your spurious legal threat along with copious mockery, so that it becomes highly ranked in search engines where other people you threaten can find it and take heart; and

c) Offer nourishing soup and sandwiches to your models."

It really is unattractive. But I'll bet it works as far as sales are concerned with regard to their target audience - teenage girls. And that is the true tragedy. I remember when I was a teen thinking I was fat. I was about as thin as you could be and still be considered healthy. 5'7" and 125lbs.

Can easiest to that with my photo program on my computer changing the aspect ratio. Not much different than going to those house of mirrors at an amusement park. That cover painting didn't even look real, so had to take a peek on the net. It's not a question of what you think or like, it's a question of what Ralph or these other fashion nuts think what you should like.

Wife likes to watch those fashion shows on TV, I have never seen people dressed like that on the streets, maybe I am on the wrong streets. But they did start the trend of built in obsolescence to keep their wallets fat. Unfortunately, many others are following that lead. Not better, no improvements, no technical advances, just different, and most of the time, even worse.

I personally prefer nude women, can see what you are getting. Well, maybe a bikini, those things don't leave anything to the imagination.

True, but that is one ** ugly model - head too big for the stick body and legs. Barbie has a lot to answer for.

Whatever happened to Marylin Monroe body types? Curvey and female through and through.

Cleo, plz! Yes, she is too skinny, but you can't rationally say that she is ugly. THat comment only makes you look bitter or angry. Letz just say she is too skinny!

:lol: I can say the entire picture was ugly because, well blow me down with a feather, it was. What she may or may not look like with in an undoctored picture has no relevance to what I posted or why. However, you believe I am either bitter or angry or both because you have some agenda of your own. You will believe that, no matter that the truth is so I will not take the time or trouble to disabuse you of your belief.
