So, the left is against Socialism, just to be clear? We should just ignore the organizations that preach "Social Justice for All"?

It is okay to be a socialist. Nobody is going to throw you in jail, or anything. It is not a bad word. Come on. You can say it. "I am a Socialist."

The connotation by the Right over that term is to imply that the Left want to eventually move us towards a nationalization of production. That's pure fear mongering. Do you think the Hollywood Liberals would want to have the Federal Government controlling the entertainment industry?

it's coming from all sides, but it's so ridiculous.. today I was 'watching' the 700 club, and listening to Robertson saying USA is turning into Socialism, because Obama was raised as a Radical-socialist.. just left me speechless.. how can these people get away with such horrible accusations? but again, instead of being taken seriously, they are just makin a fool of themselves with all these wacko conspiracy theories

That is the biggest joke of them all. How can any christian be a die hard capitalist? considering it's the poplar opposite of what Christianity stands for.

The labeling goes both ways, Bill - you know that. You are right though, Obama and the Democratic Party platform has been straightforward with the American people about their agenda (universal health care, addressing climate change, living wages, rebuilding the Middle Class). Obama and the Democrats have not done a reversal on those ideals at all, Bill. It's just that the Republicans were so smug in thinking they'd be able to retain control of the WH in spite of their failed agenda. Take Bush's tax cuts. I don't hear any Republicans championing it as success...what did it succeed in doing? Besides widen the gap between the rich and the poor.

I don't know. I liked the Bush tax cut. It saved me money. I liked removing the marriage penalty, something that saved me a lot of money recently. I sure hope that the Democrats in Congress don't let those reforms expire, or an awful lot of married folks are going to be surprised when the get an automatic tax hike next year, not to mention the elimination of the 10% bracket. Taxes go up next year if Congress fails to act.

Former U.S. Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank Alan Greenspan gives much credit to Erhard's contributions to freeing of product and financial markets in Europe in 1948. Greenspan states in The Age of Turbulence that Erhard's economic policy contributions were far more valuable to postwar Western Europe recovery than the Marshall Plan.

It all comes out of the 50's and the red scare. It was more or less propaganda really. About the same time that under God was added to the pledge of allegiance, which is kind of ironic, considering the guy who wrote it was a socialist.

Off by more than 30 years when the first "red scare" took place. Most countries didn't want to see the spread of communism once the USSR was established in 1917. BTW, the guy who wrote the pledge was a Christian socialist.
