We're approved!!! Thanti just called me -- I just got off the phone with her.

She got there an hour early. When they first called her up, they asked her for the post-office receipt of payment. She told them that she had included the original receipt from the post office in the Packet-3 response. They said they didn't have it. She said she had a photocopy of it. They said that wasn't good enough, she should go to the post office and get a duplicate receipt and come back on Mon or Wed. She said, ok, can she go out and still bring it today (Monday)? They said yes. However they told her to have a seat, and meanwhile they came back and "found" our Packet 3 envelope with the missing receipt. Huh????? #######???? Anyway, with that straightened out, she was #8 in line, had a quick interview with the female CO, the usual questions about how did we meet? When? When was my last trip to Thailand? Why had I not visited Thailand during 2009? Did she know I was divorced? How many kids do I have? Did we travel together in Thailand? All easy to answer questions, no complications whatsoever.

She got the white slip, and was told to pick up the visa on Wed July 1st.

She's flying out Thursday night and I'll pick her up at O'Hare on Friday morning, in time for the long weekend!!

Ray and Kat ,

Pete and Nern,

Way to go!!!!

Congrats

Glad to hear all went so smoothly and you are APPROVED!

Thank you Ron. I wish and am confident that you guys are going to go through just as smoothly.

BTW Nern very well might be on the same flight from BKK to Seoul as Thantita. She'll get her ticket next week the day she picks up the visa.

That would be most cool indeed

It looks like Thanti and Nern will be on the same flight BKK-Seoul after all. We definitely should coordinate this so they can meet up at the airport on Thursday night.

Also, I think we've got 2 more interviews coming up in just a few hours .... both Mke (girarm) and afisher have interviews on the 30th, so we should be hearing more good news very soon. Keep those 'congrats' messages ready, we'll be needing to issue a bunch more soon!

CONGRATZ!! :dance::dance:

Does this means we are not going to see you for a while?:devil: HAve a happy re unite! (F)

Thanks! I'm sure I'll still be on VJ, but hopefully not as much

The posted schedule on Bangkok Embassy website was just updated.

It had been stuck on May 20 release date for the past month, it's now revised to June 29 release date

It appears to contain appointments running through to the end of July.

Our interview, which was held yesterday, is on the list. Lot of good that does us now, glad we weren't relying on that ......

The airline tickets are insanely expensive right now! I can't find anything under $1800!!! I was thinking Korean air to Dulles (I live in the Baltimore/DC area) but they're over $2100).

I'm having the toughest time! I'd like to stay about a month and also be there for her interview. I dont' really want to waste too much time there once visa is in hand so that makes impossible possibilities since the interview is less than a month away on the 23rd! I really need a couple weeks to get things together here so even going out July 14, tickets are closer to $2k. My problem is getting hers comign back and having flexibility in case there's a delay with both our tickets.

Looking at leaving July 14 or 20 or so, coming back 3-4 weeks later....ugh! Prices are insane! My first trip to BKK was $935

Hey Heyena, Check out www.Kayak.com. They have the best info on flght pricing trends, (ie. cheapest airline, cheapest day of the week to travel, historical pricing etc,) You should be able to still find something in the $1K range. I've booked through them before, but usually I use the site to research and then book direct or w/ expedia etc.

Good luck w/ the travel and the interview!

This is an important question. My fiance also got approved on the same day that scandal's fiance was approved.

She got the white slip and was told to return on Wednesday just the same as scandal's fiance. The problem is this, her slip says to return on July 3rd, Friday?!

So, at this point I have told my fiance to go and pick it up on the day they verbally told her, Wednesday.

Wondering what you think about this??? Is it normally two days? Why are they telling us two separate dates? What does scandal's white slip say?

Congrats nusder!!! You must be so happy    When do you expect her to come to the US?

About the white slip - Good question. I'm in the US, haven't seen the white slip. I haven't spoken to Thanti since this morning (US time), but expect to shortly. I'll ask her about the white slip. She also logs on here sometimes, so I'll ask her if she would update the board directly with her first hand account of the interview.

BTW everyone... I'm typing this at 8:30PM CDT... it's now 8:30 AM Tues June 30 in Bangkok --- I believe that Mike (girarm)'s fiancee is having her interview literally as we speak. Good luck to them!!

Congrats Scandal

Thanks wasabi... hang on, your turn is coming soon!

I am looking at buying a ticket for her to fly in on the 8th! I am insanely excited for that day! Haha!

It says on the US embassy website: 'If your case is approved, the visa will usually be issued for pickup in 2-3 business days.'

This puts the 3rd (Friday) out a day to far according to them and puts Wednesday right on track.

I am guessing it won't hurt for her to go on Wednesday and the worse would be them telling her that it's not ready until Friday.

Thanks for letting me know what your white paper says, maybe my fiance didn't read it closely or they write the wrong date...

Thanks

Friday July 3 is definitely out. It's a holiday due to 4th of July weekend, and the embassy will be closed. That is posted on the embassy website.

Passports can be picked up only Wed/Thurs this week, or next week.

I'm still banking on what she's told me, that it will be available on Wed.

Good luck!

Ok, I just had our translator service we used send me a scan of the paper, and it says July 1st at 3pm. She must have misread it and saw the 3 o'clock time thinking that was a date. Thanks for the help, I am excited for you, have a wonderful fourth of july!
