The idea that man made CO2 changing the climate is just silly.

Yes, to climate change deniers.

But not to blind followers of hysteria I see.

AJ suggested I pick up a book. I suggest he read some peer reviewed studies by people far smarter than either of us.

Here is the abstract from a good one. Please note that this is a Harvard scientist associated with the Smithsonian

Quantitative implications of the secondary role of carbon dioxide climate forcing in the past glacial-interglacial

cycles for the likely future climatic impacts of anthropogenic greenhouse-gas forcings

Willie Soon (wsoon@cfa.harvard.edu)

Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02138, USA

Abstract: A review of the recent refereed literature fails to confirm quantitatively that carbon dioxide (CO2) radiative forcing was the prime mover in the changes in temperature, ice-sheet volume, and related climatic variables in the glacial and interglacial periods of the past 650,000 years, even under the “fast response” framework where the convenient if artificial distinction between forcing and feedback is assumed.

Atmospheric CO2 variations generally follow changes in temperature and other climatic variables rather than preceding them. Likewise, there is no confirmation of the often posited significant supporting role of methane (CH4) forcing, which – despite its faster atmospheric response time – is simply too small, amounting to less than 0.2 W/m2 from a change of 400 ppb. We cannot quantitatively validate the numerous qualitative suggestions that the CO2 and CH4 forcings that occurred in response to the Milankovich orbital cycles accounted for more than half of the amplitude of the changes in the glacial/interglacial cycles of global temperature, sea level, and ice volume. Consequently, we infer that natural climatic variability – notably the persistence of insolation forcing at key seasons and geographical locations, taken with closely-related thermal, hydrological, and cryospheric changes (such as the water vapor, cloud, and ice-albedo feedbacks) – suffices in se to explain the proxy-derived, global and regional, climatic and environmental phase-transitions in the

paleoclimate. If so, it may be appropriate to place anthropogenic greenhouse-gas emissions in context by separating their medium-term

climatic impacts from those of a host of natural forcings and feedbacks that may, as in paleoclimatological times, prove just as significant.

You think that's the job of a politician, to only look after those people who vote for you? Strange indeed.

Is that the job? No, not really. Is that how politicians operate? Yup.

What a politician is supposed to do is usually quite different from what they end up doing.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

There was an Aggie that was down on his luck. In order to raise some money he decided to kidnap a kid and hold him for ransom.

He went to the playground, grabbed a kid, took him behind a tree and told him, "I've kidnapped you."

The Aggie wrote a note saying "I've kidnapped your kid. Tomorrow morning, put $10,000 in a paper bag and put it beneath the pecan tree next to the slide on the north side of the city playground. Signed, An Aggie."

The Aggie then pinned the note to the kid's shirt and sent him home to show it to his parents.

The next morning the Aggie checked, and sure enough a paper bag was sitting beneath that pecan tree. The Aggie opened up the bag and found the $10,000 with a note. The note said, "How could one Aggie do this to another Aggie

Young lady, are you aware of the penalties for perjury?" roared the Aggie lawyer at the witness. "You have just testified that you have two brothers. But, in previous testimony, your brother stated that he has but one brother. I want the truth!"

Two little boys were playing football in a park in College Station, Texas and one was suddenly under attack by a rabid rottweiler.

Thinking quickly, the other boy ripped off a board from a nearby fence, wedged it down the dog's collar and twisted it, breaking the dog's neck.

A reporter who was strolling by saw the incident and rushed over to interview the boy. "FUTURE AGGIE SAVES FRIEND FROM VICIOUS ANIMAL," he starts writing in his notebook.

"But I'm not going to be an Aggie," the little boy told him.

"Sorry, since we're in College Station, I just assumed you were," said the reporter. He starts again, "YOUNG AGGIE FOOTBALL FAN RESCUES FRIEND FROM HORRIFIC ATTACK," wrote the reporter.

"I'm not an Aggie football fan either," said the boy.

"Well, gosh, " said the reporter, "I thought everyone in the College Station area pulled for Texas A&M. Just who do you root for?" the reporter asked.

"I'm a longhorn fan," said the boy with pride.

The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook, "LITTLE HIPPIE FREAKBOY MURDERS BELOVED FAMILY PET."

OK, I've done my bit to stir up the pot.... let's see if he takes the bait.

I'm neutral in all this. My whole lifetime experience with Texas has been 1 week consulting at Lockheed in Fort Worth, and a handful of times transiting through DFW.
