Hello guys! Do you have any idea why some cases are being transferred to California Service Center and some are not? What are the probable reasons why they transfer cases?

From what I understand, they do it to redistibute the workload. How they pick which cases to transfer I don't know. Hope that helps

Mostly for work-load balancing reasons - most who end up getting transferred to CSC are eventually approved without interview - why? unsure...

Presumably they have some sort of pattern they follow to determine which cases do/don't require interview. Exactly what that pattern is is unknown.

The bad news is, your green card will probably take longer to be approved than if you got transferred to a local office and had an interview.

If your local USCIS field office is backlogged then you have a better than even chance to get a transfer to CSC. The goal is to have CSC adjudicate the application before it would have been if it was transfered to your local office. How this exactly plays out I am not sure.

For example, St. Paul is almost 10 months processing for an I-485. My wife had her file transferred to CSC and all was done in about 5 mos. For her a transfer to CSC was a better alternative

I disagree almost 100%... It depends on the local office processing... some are not busy and very quick while others are horribly behind

YMMV

Thank you guys for enlightening me. Just a bit anxious waiting here. I'm tired doing nothing. (Sigh...)

I have heard that since I joined VJ...it seemed that California transfer cases usually get approved without interview. I also heard that from the time of the first interview notes are taken and kept in waiting for removing conditions and that is looked on as far as who to send to possibly approve without interview. Good news for us beacause we just got a letter of transfer from VSC to CSC. :)

Kamusta. Neyla and I just received the notice of transfer from VSC to CSC as well. Somewhere on this site is a chart showing the average processing time for these transferred 751's is about 5 weeks. That would be great for us.

I have no idea if this had anything to do with it, but I did send additional information when I sent my AoS, all detailed in my table of contents, and I got my transfer notice a week or so later. I sent three years of my husband's tax transcripts and W2s, a copy of my ITIN letter from when we filed jointly last year, and a short letter from both of us apologising for the delay in applying (we've been married a little under a year and a half) and explaining that it was because we needed to save up the money. For a while I wondered if maybe the fact that we've been married a while has anything to do with it, but it's all just speculation on my part, since other people who filed much sooner have also gotten transferred.

It's a good thing for me because I had seriously developed a tick from the stress leading up to and sending the package. Mentioning it to me or working on it would cause my left eye to twitch -- my doctor said it wasn't dangerous and was just stress-related, and my husband thought it was hysterical. Since I got my transfer notice and my biometrics done, however, it's completely gone away. I guess I really managed to work myself into a lather over it without realising it.

Mostly for work-load balancing reasons

The precise wording on my transfer notice is "This is to advise you that in order to speed up processing we have transferred the above case to the following USCIS office for processing: California Service Center, etc, etc"

The bad news is, your green card will probably take longer to be approved than if you got transferred to a local office and had an interview.

I agree with this. It can be very quick after transfer! My AOS was approved less than five weeks after it was received at CSC. The case landed there on about Feb 6th or so, was immediately touched on a daily basis for about a week and a half and was approved a couple of weeks ago. That's pretty quick! I have no doubt I'd still be waiting at NBC :)

Of course, I waited a lot longer than people with similar timelines to get transferred but once I was, it was very fast.
