STUCK @ NVC for AP

Well here's something depressing. I played around with the stats some more. This time, I looked for all cases that were received at NVC since Dec 1, and HAVE NOT yet left NVC. I weeded out those cases which already got a Packet 3, have Interview scheduled, or even have Visa granted since those just mean the applicant didn't bother to fill out the Left NVC column.

Still ----- that leaves a shocking number of cases that entered NVC and apparently have not yet left... some for 70,80 even 90 days. OK, so probably some of these are still just records that the member hasn't bothered to update since they recorded arrival at NVC. But it makes you wonder... could there be many cases routinely exceeding the ~50 day estimate of max time at NVC?

See attached table. Who ARE all these people? Shu&Cary 90 days? Evelyn&Alec 86 days? Yikes.

On this list, we (Thantita&Ron) are at 41 days. That means about another 10 days till we're released if the track record of recent posters here is right, but I'm getting worried that maybe it could be still much longer

Ron, thanks for doing some more data mining. We are at 47 days today, as your chart shows, and it is not a good feeling as 7 weeks draws near. The 80 and 90 day data is probably not valid but there are 12 that are more than cdneh's "record" of 53 days and less than 80. I do know that chi and cao got out last week from other posts that they have made, so that one is just a non-update.

I have a feeling that NVC has a rule that says after 7 weeks, they have to wrap it up and move it on...let's hope it is really true!

yaaay!

Welcome to the u s of a :)

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/wait/tempvisitors_wait.php

Joe&Nadya - I don't think that's right. The link you provide will give estimated wait times for visas in the specific consulate selected. That has nothing to do with the wait times at NVC in New Hampshire. On the contrary, previous analysis indicates that the NVC waiting time is not correlated to which consulate you are working through.

Todd - I think you're right, I do believe that NVC cases are being released consistently at the 7 week mark, give or take a few days. Most of the 'over' records are undoubtedly just folks who didn't update their VJ timelines (!@#$%@!#$ why won't ppl do that?? :bonk: )

Yesterday when I did this, I also pulled fresh data for cases that had both NVC In AND Out records - I wanted to post that too, but it was getting pretty late. I'll try to do it tonight when I get home from work.

I think the wait times listed in the link referred to in the bold above are just how long you have to wait for an interview for a locally requested non-immigrant (visitor) visa and for the consulate or embassy to process your visa after you have been approved. I could not find any reference to NVC.

Sorry, I think the 60 days just refers to the AP that "may" be done at the consulate after they have interviewed the applicant.

I agree! The first thing I will do (after calling Hien!) is to update my timeline to show I am out of AP!! It is a momentous occasion, I think!!

Just hang in there, my VJ's friend, I knew the feeling of waiting something which we did not know the time frame. However, just be patient and your time will come very very soon.

Ok, as promised, here's the list of those who have been released from NVC in descending sort. I'm only looking here at cases that entered NVC after Dec 1. Hence, cdneh is not on the list since they entered NVC in November.

Also, I think we can ignore the first entry -- ash & rob at 70 days. Even though the database says they are K3, their profile page says they are IR1, so I don't think they are actually a K visa.

Well, that makes Yazied & Lisa our current 'winners'

What's nice to see is that cases do get released anywhere at all in the 40-50 day range. So take heart Todd, we're coming up literally any day now.

I did call NVC tonight - still stuck. But I think I'm going to start calling daily from this point.

Rats. I'm apparently exceeding VJ's file attachment limit - it's not letting me post my tables as jpgs any longer.

So I'm reverting back to posting this as tabular data. The formatting is quite ragged, but I've given up working with this editor.

caochi,

Yes I noticed this. The problem is your time line data seems to be messed up. If you click your timeline

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=54673

you'll see the message -

Oops! Captain we have a problem. Some how there were multiple entries found, Please contact an admin to resolve this.

You should look into this, and perhaps ask for technical assistance from VJ admins.

Timeline

Ron, thanks for doing some more data mining. We are at 47 days today, as your chart shows, and it is not a good feeling as 7 weeks draws near. The 80 and 90 day data is probably not valid but there are 12 that are more than cdneh's "record" of 53 days and less than 80. I do know that chi and cao got out last week from other posts that they have made, so that one is just a non-update.

I have a feeling that NVC has a rule that says after 7 weeks, they have to wrap it up and move it on...let's hope it is really true!

here you can see time how long your case is being in AP. Just chose your country and you will see how long NVC will delay your case in AP.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/wait/tempvisitors_wait.php

I agree! The first thing I will do (after calling Hien!) is to update my timeline to show I am out of AP!! It is a momentous occasion, I think!!

But I think I'm going to start calling daily from this point.

wait...what did we win?

ash & rob, may have chose to persue the ir1 after getting stuck in AP with the k3.

about the link provided:

it clearly says:

See the “Wait Times for a Nonimmigrant Visa to be Processed” information, which does not include time required for administrative processing.

so i dont think it is an estimate of AP at all. It also isnt very accurate as most people report their approved visa's being mailed to them within weks after approval with no post interview AP.

Good for you for diggin though, Im all for researching to get some sort of "because" to our "why's" :)

Thanks!

You win... mmmm....... the right to pick up just where you thought you were after getting your NOA2 all those weeks ago???

That doesn't seem like much of a prize, does it?

Just for fun, here's the list from yesterday (those of us still stuck), but going down through the 30's and 20's.

Newcomers, if you're lurking on our thread, welcome. Say hi, don't be shy.

And if you're stuck in NVC and haven't yet found this thread, well then I guess you must not be reading this post
