waithatter - i havent completed the NVC process yet but I would suggest that you get all the police certificates before sending your IV packet. they will send you a RFE as soon as they see that the beneficiary's passport has been issued more than 6 months ago and there is no PCC from passport office.

getting the PCC from the passport office is easier than getting it from the local police station. atleast in chandigarh it was. it was absolutely hassle free. i am assuming the same is with Ahmedabad and that you only have to fill out a simple form and submit the required fee.

again, even if you have to wait for a few days, wait for that extra time and make sure you send everything right the first time to avoid further delays with a RFE. and that is just my opinion. Good Luck!

cmnb,

Thank you so much for your quick reply. The reason I posted this thread is because my wife is having hard time getting PCC from passport office in ahmedabad. Passport office people wants to see Interview letter NO matter what, they will not issue PCC until we show them Interview letter. So, I am in stage where I have PCC from local police station, but not one from passport office. I spoke with NVC operator and I told me them about my situation, there reply was get "not issuable" letter from passport office, letter basically says "we can not issue pcc until we see interview letter" even that letter passport office are not willing to issue on there letterhead. Then I called NVC again this morning and told them the response my wife got from passport office and NVC operator told me Just write us letter stating passport office will not issue pcc untill they see interview letter. So, I wanted to see if anyone out there who have gone throught this situation and have not had RFE. :(

One last attempt you can make is with the DS-230 cover sheet and your approval letter. Once you have paid your DS-230 fee, print out the cover sheet and send it to your wife along with the approval letter. Tell your wife to go to the passport office and show that BMB number on the cover sheet along with the approval letter. I was able to get the PCC without this cover sheet but I know some folks have mentioned that they only want to see the BMB #.

Hi waithater,

My wife is going through the same problem. Ahemdabad passport office is giving her a hard time to issur passport clearance certificate. I have just mailed her the approval notice. I will keep you posted if they issue the certificate just by showing the approval notice. I might also follow SIYARAM's idea of printing the DS-230 coversheet if just the approval notice is not sufficient.

Hey waithater and to all,

This is what I did, Go to VJ WIKI and search for James Shortcut. Once you get there look for DS-230 Coversheet. This is a word document, insert all the details of your case. Email that word document to the beneficiary and ask them to print it in color and take that to the passport office in ahemdabad.

Waithater if you are having a hard time finding that word document then e-mail me through visa journey and I will send you the word document as an attachment.

bigblue,

Thanks! I already tried that option, but passport office didnt bite a bit. They want to see interview letter no matter.

FYI, I called nvc today and spoke to nice lady operator who advice me to write them letter stating passport office wont issue pcc untill they see interview letter and then they will review it. She told me most of the time they wont even need pcc from passport office. So, I have letter ready to mail them as soon as I pay my IV fee.

Let me know if you find out something else. I will keep you updated.

Wife went to passport office again with e-mail and other document from mumbai consulate, but same reply from passport office "we can not issue pcc until we see interview letter". They even went on saying that we dont care what mumbai consulate said this is government of india office and mumbai consulate is privatley owned. we can not issue pcc bottom line. When my wife asked for letter of statement from passport office saying "we can not issue pcc until we see interview letter" for NVC they said we dont have to write letter to you, it is government of india rule and cant write letter stating that.

How come all other passport office's are issuing PCC without interview letter....and its not that people from AHemdabad are not getting PCC.....

Is there now way to escalate the matter; If you are talking to someone at the counter, try some to talk to some one senior.

https://passport.gov.in/pms/Police%20Cleara...Certificate.htm

Check this link, it clearly states the list of required Docs, now here is it mentioned that you need to submit the Interview letter

how long does it take to get PCC from chandigarh

It takes only 3- 7 days working days to get a pcc from Chandigarh. Chandigarh passport authority doesn't even ask for interview letter or anything. Just fill in form 2 for misc. services and submit that form that counter #6 with Rs 300. =)

But for those who are facing trouble in getting a pcc for passport authority. I suggest wait till you get the interview letter. Then you can show that to passport office and then you'll also get the pcc in 3 - 7 days. =) So need to panic guys.

Remember one thing that to get police clearance from police is kind of time consuming. So get that asap.
