My wife and I are both very dissapointed as she received a 221 g white paper asking for more relationship proof. When she was interviewed she asked the officer to look at her emails, chat logs and photos but he said " no, not right now" and the 221 g consists of the very things she was carrying with her to the interview. We are both very depressed and feel extremely low at this point. She was interiewed at New delhi india on the 15th of jan 2009.the 221 g consists of the following ....

you are requested to submit proof of relationship to include but not limited to :

notarized explanation of how and when you first met and why you decided to get married

itemised phone bills, emails and/or postmarked letters or cards showing correspondence

photos of you and the petitioner before, during and after the wedding

notarized copy of your and your husbands passport

voters ID card and the voters list for the past 5 years for the benificiary

notarized statements signed by the applicants/benificiary's parents discussing their views of this marriage

My wife was given back her original documents submitted like marriage certificate . bitrh certificate, passport etc.

They did not ask for the VFS receipt but kept the medical report envelope and gave her back the unopened xray report.

please advice...any thoughts would be appriciated.thank you

Provide them exactly what they are requesting, exactly according to their instructions. This is a no brainer.

Give them what they ask for, they did same to me, asked me for same evidence so i asked her what else do you want that i dont have here? She said Emails wld be fine as i didnt bring emails except the ones that showed reciept for flight tickets and hotels when we both went to dubai on summer vacation.

It rained heavily the next day, the 3rd day i went back with about 40 emails some with 2 pages some with three pages, she said, hmmm i expected to see you back yesterday and smiled so i told her it was the rain, i was out of there in less than 10mins with instructions to come a week later for the visa collection! So get what they requested for and dont delay so it doesnt seem you had to go scouting for it, il say the earlier the better.

But i understand how you feel, its very disappointing, i almost didnt want to go back after i got the 221G or whatever it was they used to ask for more eveidence!

All the best!

Are you saying that you had submitted everything that they asked for? Emails, photos, relationship, letter etc. If you submitted all that was listed I would be very upset. I'm sorry for your troubes, but as another poster mentioned it is not a denial and as soon as they receive or discover what they need, you should be approved.

Yes, do make sure you have her submit all additonal documents as soon as possible, even if the 221(g) does say she has one year, your petition may be in danger of expiring. My fiance got a 221(g) at US Embassy Delhi on Aug 25th, 2008, 27 days before the petition expired. I'm not sure, but If there's some reason or another that it may take her a little longer to get the additonal documentation, then maybe you can contact the Embassy Consular Officer and requesting an extension on your petition which he has the authority to do. It's at least worth a try just in case.

Because of all the errors on my fiance's voters card that had to be corrected he didn't get the additonal documents submitted till Dec 11th, 2008. It took three months for the elections office to get it cleared up because they don't do corrections on an individual basis. Honestly though, what if she didn't register to vote? Then what?

On Jan. 1st, 2009 he got a 2nd 221(g) in the mail that stated that the consular wasn't convinced that we had a credible relationship and too that my petition had expired. Said they sent it back to the U.S.

Now we're stuck not knowing what to do more. I've already taken Kiya's advice and contacted my Senator (by registered mail, emailed the Embassy and didn't get a reply till last week saying that they no longer had our case there. I called the Embassy too, more than once only to get the run-a-round with no success, they just kept transfering to people who would in turn transfer my call again and it got me nowhere.

This has devestated us to no end. it really hurts to be put through all this and then this happen.

Take care and the very best of luck to you.

OMG! I am sorry!

I was there at the embassy that same day with my husband. Maybe I saw her there. There were two women behind us when he was getting his fingerprints. If your wife had an interview time around 0745, I might have seen her. I would just send in the information that they asked for. It sounds like you have everything. Keep following up with the embassy afterwards too for an updated status. Hopefully, they will approve it soon! Keep the faith!:thumbs::thumbs:

Do as quickly as possible. However, I believe since you are a CR1, there is no expiration date as a K1 or K3 which are 6 months after the USCIS approval.

Does the relationship letter, passport pages, and beneficiaries parents letters all have to be notarized???

Packet 3 & 4 from Mumbai consulate does not say notarized. Does it really have to be??

Notarizing these letters lets the viewer know that it was actually the person signing the letter and not a forgary. (I don't know how to spell)
