I had one but it's not a diamond. It's a connemara marble oval set in sterling silver. The mounting has trinity knots holding the stone.

I switched it to my right hand after the wedding.

Our wedding bands are very unique and made in Ireland. I actually like his better than mine as it is wider. After the wedding it just seemed not quite as attractive to me as his. A local jeweler in our area went out of business after Christmas and we were able to get a quarter-carat round solitaire in a simple six-prong mounting for $150 bucks - what a bargain!

So now I have a diamond - it was a bargain - and I love it!

I did have one. But, 3 weeks before our wedding, we went out drinking.........

As we walked home from the pub, I heard a little ting. Let's just say we never found the ring again. We went back several times, but it was gone. Luckily, we had chosen something beyond modest and it wasn't expensive. Like Jen was saying, unique. I nearly died. However, it just further proved to me that rings have nothing to do with it. Our white gold bands are all we need. We put those on at the same time and that means the world to me.

I don't have a ring at the moment but.......................my Mom found an antique ring at a local store-it is "on-hold" I love it. One of those gorgeous platinum engagement rings from the 1920's. When my man gets here-he can buy it for me :P

I have my great grandmothers wedding ring that we decided to use as my engagement ring. It is beautiful and means more to me than another ring. Plus this process has totally broke us both and we want to save money and get another ring at a late date. (maybe) I really don't care about a ring....I just want my man. (L)

I wish I could have answered two different ones!

My ring was an heirloom that I wore from the time we got engaged (well, from about an hour later when we got home--he proposed before he'd intended to) until we married, but we didn't have the money to get it reset the way we wanted to (G. had planned what he wanted it to look like, and I agreed), and it didn't match my wedding ring (engagement ring was yellow gold, wedding ring is white gold), so I stopped wearing it when we got married. Then about a year and a half later, we finally had the money to have it reset, so I've been wearing it since.

It is funny as soon as I say I am engaged people look for a ring. Like it is not real with no ring?

I agree...and while I have an engagement ring, it isn't a diamond. It's a blue topaz set in silver. It's what I wanted. Besides...all that mattered is that Joel and I knew we were engaged.

When we get married we will be using family heirlooms. He will be wearing his mom's ring, given to her by his father who passed in 2001 and I will be wearing my mom's rings - she passed in 2005. How special is that? (L)

Just re-reading this thread and am amused by your answer to me in the other thread about the funniest thing that ever happened when drunk... "I'm sorry" was what you said.

I'm sorry you lost your ring after you were drinking....

I'm sorry you felt the need to be nasty and rub someone's loss in their face! Wow, didn't think you could be mean spirited!

Not mean spirited, Lisa... and not rubbing in the loss... I'm sure that was very traumatic. The other thread about 'drinking' is making light of the consequences of having had too much alcohol.... this is another such consequence that I did not find amusing. People forget about this sort of thing when they share stories of the 'cute' stuff that happens....
