Good morning everyone. Coffee's on!

teacoffee-750.jpg

We're going to a Cardinal's game tonight, which I'm excited about.

Don't know if I told you that Gene and I are driving to Toronto to see my parents on Friday! This will be my first time back in Canada since I moved. On the way back we'll probably stop in and see Gene's parents. His Dad is doing much better, but will still be in the hospital over the weekend. He had a couple of blood clots in his lungs that they're trying to get rid of. We won't be back until probably Sunday the 27th.

The beginning and the days leading up to my trip have been and will be pretty stressful (I've vented in the vent thread!). Hopefully after the Monday I will be able to relax.

Enjoy your day!

Oh yes, could someone serve up coffee for the week that I'm away?

have a safe trip to Toronto, maybe catch a Leafs Playoff game....... Oh wait....................

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Wow. That is AWESOME, Carla! On both counts. :)

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. It's been a terrible year for my uncle. When my aunt died unexpectedly last year (brain aneurism) he took it really hard. In fact, my cousins were making funeral preps for him as well as my aunt because he immediately went into the hospital and it was touch and go. They let him out for her funeral and he's been in and out of the hospital with pneumonia and stuff ever since. I guess he's at peace now.

Today my cousin is having her breast reconstructed. She is a breast cancer survivor and the operation, chemo, and radiation did a number on her. She is scheduled to be in the operating room for 8.5 hours because they need to remove some ribs which were damaged in the process. Also, the remaining skin had been too far damaged to insert a balloon to stretch it to accommodate an implant so they are removing fat from her stomach and creating a breast from that. She doesn't think she is getting a nipple, though. They told her to eat lots of McDonald's to gain some weight so they had something to work with. I was like "Wow. How cool is that? You can eat anything and everything and then they slice it all off and give you a tummy tuck while you get brand new perky boobies!" But, anyway.... she will be in my thoughts and prayers today and I will be on pins and needles until Cousin Tony calls. (I told Deb it's alright for her..... All she has to do is go to sleep and wake up, so the time will fly for her. For us, the time is going to go soooooo sloooooow.)

I don't know if I told anyone, but I made Gene a wedding memory shadowbox for our 1st anniversary. Here's a pic of it if anyone wants to see it. You can see on the bottom left corner of the box there is a white coffee bag. Those were our wedding favours. White brides and black grooms with a little heart shaped coffee scoop attached. They were quite cute.
