USCIS lost my packet again!!!

We sent in our AOS packet on December 09, 2007. We were checking on our bank account to see if our check had been cashed yet.

Today, we got a thick envelope from the USCIS. Guess what? They sent back a part of our AOS packet with rejection notices saying we did not provide correct fee.

As we went through the returned package, we noticed that our I-485 is missing. Those rejection notices were for the employment authorization and travel document. The USCIS lost our I-485, so that they thought we sent in $1010 for the employment authorization and travel document. So stupid!

And there are some printed marks with date (December 17, 2007) on the side of some documents that were returned, so we think our packet was being processed at one point by someone and that someone lost our I-485.

We called the USCIS and they told us to resend what the USCIS sent back plus new I-485 that they lost.

This all sounds so familiar to us because the same thing happened to our I-129F packet, which delayed our plan by two months. (They did not even notice that our packet was lost until we called.)

I can't beleive that the same thing happened twice to us!

I just hope that when we send the packet back to the USCIS, things will go smoothly.....

wow... that sucks. my case is pending but it seems to be collecting dust on someones desk since may. sorry but its good to hear I'm not alone with my frustration... :innocent:

Are you perhaps assembling the packet in a weird clip, or making it too bulky? I know USCIS doesnt want you to staple anything, just clip it all together with an ACCO clip and a cover letter with the contents of what you are sending, and state what you are filing for.

Thank you all for your compassion.

I did not staple any documents, but I did divide the packet into I-485 with Affidavit of Support, I-131, and I-765 with ACCO clips... Maybe that could be the reason?

I put a cover letter in front.

We already sent back what they sent us with missing information and documents added. This time, we were instructed to send what they have already stapled together as is, so my original cover letter is stapled at the back of a bunch of documents. But we were instructed by an officer who talked to us on the phone to write an expedite request, so that is what we put in front.

I really hope there will be no more BS from now on....
